The Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton Signature Acoustic Guitar is handcrafted with a premium East Indian rosewood back and sides and a bookmatched top of select quartersawn Sitka spruce. Its smaller 000 body size and short 24-9/10" scale help produce delicate, balanced tones.

The rosette and soundboard are inlaid with herringbone wood marquetry, and the body is bound with grained ivoroid. An ebony fingerboard features a long diamonds-and-squares pattern in abalone pearl. Eric's signature is inlaid in mother-of-pearl between the 19th and 20th frets. Tastefully appointed with hand-beveled tortoise pickguard, nickel-plated open-geared machines equipped with unique butterbean knobs. Each Martin Eric Clapton Signature Guitar bears an interior label, individually numbered in sequence.

‘I will just simply say, this is flat-out THE BEST SOUNDING GUITAR I'VE EVER PLAYED. I have owned several Martins over the years (pretty much the only guitars I'll buy). They include a D18, D18 1934 GE, HD28V, OM-28 VTS, and a CEO-7. They are all terrific guitars. But the 000-28EC is the best. I don't know whether it's because of Clapton's instructions to Martin, or whether it's because Martin just wanted Clapton to be happy with the product. But it's truly a classic. Turns out I simply didn't know what a great sounding guitar sounded like until I got this one. You experience it the first time you play it.

It speaks with authority. It makes everything you've been playing for years on other guitars sound noticeably better. It's loud, with an outstanding dynamic range. Surprising strong bass response, nice highs, great through the mid-range.
Almost don't need my dreadnought anymore. But it's the subtler tonal qualities of the guitar that are hardest to convey, but which are what make this guitar so unique.

So, I have to fall back on the standard descriptors. Great sustain; beautiful string separation and definition; a pure tone machine. Very sweet when played with a gentle touch. It kicks butt when you throw yourself into it. A versatile gem that will wow both flat-pickers and finger-pickers, whether you play folk, blues, rock, jazz.

I should add that the neck plays well too--the mod V is actually quite comfy--though, as with all Martins, you don't really buy them for their playability (get a Taylor). But it's Martin at its sonic best. Play a few if you can. As with all models, there's a fair degree of variability across individual guitars. When you find the one that speaks to you, you'll know you have to have it. You will never, ever regret it. The 000-28EC is in a class by itself. It's a keeper.’
