For starters, the D-35 (2018) is now supported by forward shifted bracing, which will give this already deep-voiced Dreadnought some extra low-end punch and power. As far as playability is concerned, the D-35 (2018) now employs Martin's contemporary High Performance neck taper and a slightly wider 1-3/4 nut width to give this Dreadnought a more modern, comfortable fretting-hand feel. Aesthetically, this Dreadnought screams old-school vibes with the addition of vintage-inspired aging top toner, Antique White binding, and a faux tortoise pickguard.
The beautiful three-piece back is an essential D-35 element, and this incarnation is no exception. Featuring premium Indian rosewood back sides, a Sitka spruce top, and a 14-Fret Dreadnought body, the D-35 (2018) remains true to the classic ingredients that allow it to deliver all the tonal depth, complexity, and sonic horsepower that you've come to expect from Martin's 35-style Dreadnought. 'I recently purchased this BEAUTIFUL guitar at my local GC. I had made up my mind between an HD-28 and the D-35. After playing the two side by side for 30 minutes, I chose the D-35.
The three piece back is SUCH a cool feature and look to the guitar. I dont know how it affects the tone, but all I can say is this guitar has a beautiful and well balanced sound. I had heard that the bass can overwhelm the treble, but not the case with mine. The D-35 I chose had a better balance than the HD-28.
I know of variations, and your mileage may vary. I am not a pro at all, but I do enjoy playing and I wanted a guitar I could enjoy and pass down to my kids when Im gone. It will definitely hold its value and appreciate as time goes by. Its the last guitar I will ever have to buy and I will enjoy it every opportunity I get.'
