Eric Clapton loves his Martin acoustic guitar strings so much that he wanted to put his name on them. Martin is forever proud that they make the strings Eric trusts to produce his legendary guitar sounds.

What does Eric have to say about Martin Strings? "When I play acoustic guitar, whether in a studio or on stage, Martin Strings are my choice. They deliver the sound that I demand."

I purchased two dozen of these strings for Christmas presents and was shocked to see the lack of quality in each and every set. The coating was separating on the B and some G strings. In addition, after a short playing time I found these strings actually wore groves in my expensive Martin frets an my son's Taylor. I bought them for the name since they were apparently endorsed by Clapton. How could you go wrong, right? I wonder if he has even saw a set. I removed these pronto and gave the rest away. Stand clear of these if you love your guitar. I went back to my Martin standards and my son returned to Elixer. It pays to read the reviews. I always feel company reps might write a few reviews in behalf of their product so I quickly avoid the 5 stars and look for the 3's for the real picture.

.Martin's Clapton's Choice strings are tonally phenomenal. I've been playing for nearly 20 years, and I exclusively use a Martin D35 for acoustic work. Clapton's Choice strings take advantage of the innate resonance of my instrument, producing solid, clearly defined bottom-end and crisp, snappy highs. Separation when playing open chords or barre chords is outstanding: each note rings with clarity and brilliance. These strings do require a bit more "work" when approaching leads: the phosphor bronze is not quite as malleable as an 80/20 set...but after breaking them in for a few hours the strings are smooth to the touch, responsive, and exceptionally bendable. I agree with the most common critique of Clapton's Choice strings: they don't last very long. I've played 3 hour shows with a set, rehearsed for a few days afterwards, and the strings seem to suffer from expedient oxidization. Nevertheless, it's a price I'm willing to pay for such brilliant tone. I'd give Clapton's Choice strings about 10 hours of playtime before they become noticeably oxidized and nearly unplayable. All in all, if I have a show to play or if I'm recording, I never hesitate to compromise on my strings. Clapton's Choice strings, despite their abbreviated lifespan, offer the best in tonal balance, feel, and responsiveness. They're loud. Try them out!

.I absolutely love these strings. I have been playing forever and have never found a string that I absolutely love, these are it.I don't have rusting issues as noted by others. I change my strings once a month anyway because I gig a lot and I like fresh strings. These last well and produce a full crisp sound that I am looking for. I don't get sore fingers and again they don't wear out. I have very corrosive fingers but these still hold up well. For the price I don't see anything out there any better than these. I am just afraid they are going to be discontinued, because of the dropping of the price.. I buy 5-10 at a time

.I bought these strings in hope that being Clapton endorsed they'd be a hit. Unfortunately that was NOT the case.I know these are 13's but christ almighty, after about 5 songs in our set I've got to bust out the Bengay and give my hand a break from playing these bulky bastards. Not only are they difficult to play in progression, the strings corrode so fast you can't keep up with them. I take good care of my equipment, and I have seen nothing like THIS before. I emailed about it, and they say it's common... well wow.My advice, stay away from these strings unless you want green bleeding fingers from rusted strings after a week.

.I recently bought a new acoustic and wasn't quite convinced with it; and then I replaced the strings with Clapton's Choice, and 'oh my god' it brought my baby to life. Everything checked before: the solid sitka top, solid mahogany sides and back, a good quality finish... but I wasn't getting the tone and resonance desired. Now it ALL check's out!

.I will only buy these strings. There's a reason why "The Cream of the Crop" endorses these babies.

.I've never had ANY set of acoustic strings rust so quick before. Not using any polish, spray, neck lube... this whole set is damn near rusted after 2 weeks of being put on.I emailed support about it and all I got was a generic response that this is common... well I sure as heck haven't seen anything like this before in such a short amount of time!I'd recommend staying away from these.

.I have always used some form of Martin strings for over 25 years. Just two days ago I put these on my Gretsch historic series. I have never heard a string that has such a crisp, yet warm rich tone. It seems to me that most strings, while chording wash together, they may have a nice warm tone but nothing dramatic. I put these strings on and I was amazed____hands down the best tone I have ever had. Now it could just be the best match for my set up ( big jumbo concert body), but when I play a chord I hear every note as it blends, it is beautiful. If you don't use them already, try a set!
