If it's one thing Martin knows, it's finely crafted and vintage instruments. Martin created their Marquis line to pamper your guitar by adding a soft thread wrap at the ball ends which prevent wear and tear on the bridge and end plate as you play. This thread wrap puts a comforting layer of protection in place every time you change your strings.

As both a player and a recording engineer, I install a lot of strings. I have tried most brands and styles at least once. Martin Marquis Phosphor Bronze are the strings I prefer for most of my instruments, and have performers try when recording & performing live. Of course every guitar is unique, and these strings don't sound great on every instrument. But on most fine acoustic guitars, no other string sounds as brilliant and complex no matter the song or playing style.Martin M2000 Marquis Phosphor Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings
.I use Martin strings on all of my acoustics. They have a great tone, last a long while, and have never had one break.

.I bought these strings in extra light because I practice so much I wear deep ridges in my fingertips that make practice difficult and I thought the lighter strings would help. They do help and I thought I would have to give up good, rich tone going to such light string, but that isn't the case. They are a little brighter, but not so much as to notice for practicing. My experience with the better name strings, like Martin, D'Addario, etc is they are pretty consistently made well for regular, normal use.
PS: Marquis strings are my (professional) son's favorite.

.I've tried them all, these are the Best You Can Get. These strings aren't prone to breaking from the 3 sets I've used. At first these strings are a little bright, but seem to sound better as they go. I've got these on my D15 and now after 3 months of hard playing they show some wear visually, but the sound I can't express enough how they improve with age. I'm sure they won't last forever but the sound is unique and to the picky perfectionist, the choice acoustic sound that will stand out from the rest.

.Thought I would try these after being recommended by my regular guitar tech, and I could not be more disappointed. The bottom e-string broke after tuning for the first time. Since I bought two sets, I took one from there, and after playing a couple of melodies, the b-string broke, which at that point I didn't care. So, I went back to my old faithfuls, of which I have never had one break on any of my guitars, my Ernie Ball 2221 'Electric' Guitar Strings. Ernie Ball Electric Guitar Strings are simply awesome on Acoustic-Electric Guitars, period.
