Iv'e been playing acoustics for 19 years this month. I've owned over 50 acoustic guitars, and I will always take the oportunity to try any one I can get my hands on. I have tried every acoustic guitar string of every size I could find.(Seriously) To me, nothing sounds louder, more clear, more complex, more balanced as these strings! If you keep them clean so they don't rust, they last me longer than any others. I have also liked the nylon on the ball end. They don't damage the bridge as bad. I have put these strings on guitars that cost $100 and less before, and I could not belive my ears when I heard the tone! I am a firm beliver in the idea that "Strings make a HUGE differance in the sound of any guitar." Acoustics especially. And these strings are why. .The wound strings are a little squeaky cant be lazy like your playing with elixir's! But for the price and how much I change strings I really like them. They sound just as good if not better than any other string I've tried for about 1/4 the price.

.I haven't tried every brand of strings out there, but of those I have tried, these Martin Marquis are my absolute favorite. I don't do a lot of alternate tunings, so breakage is not an issue for me, but my daughter broke the high E descending to double drop D, which seemed weird. Probably an isolated case. I thrash pretty hard on mine at acoustic sing-alongs, and so far none have broken for me. This isn't a coated or long-life string, you'll probably want to change them every few months if you play frequently, more often if you play daily, of course.

.For me, I like to play new strings for about an hour before studio or shows. That's any string I put on. Coated strings last longer but not long enough for my money. I use them if I'm doing one nighters and don't have time to change them. The Marquis stay in tune, last long enough, 8-12 hrs depending on playing circumstances. If you change strings often or have a vintage guitar, the silk wrapping will help save your bridge.
