Product Features

Martin SP Flexible Core strings have a thin, but strong core wire and a thicker wrap wire, which allows them to be flexible and easy on the fingers while holding standard tension. SP Flexible Core strings feel soft to the touch, making them ideal for beginners. But don't be fooled by comfort! Just ask Tommy Emmanuel, who performs with Martin's SP Flexible Core strings night after night. With SP Flexible Core, you get total flexibility and total control.

I did a review of these strings last December. I have to update my review because these strings are the BEST I ever used by far. I have them on a Martin that I restrung last January and they still sound as good, if not better than after they first took seat.
I only play at home these days and I change my strings at least once a month untill I tried the FX 12/54's.

.Play Happy at a Great Price!

The price and my curiosity overcame my doubts and I ordered a few sets of FX740 Phosopher Bronze 12's. It was a nice surprise and I quickly ordered a dozen more. They stay tuned, are easy on the fingers and fretboard, great tone and overtones when amped are bold! Even when I double capo the harmonics are right on pitch... Get some -

I have used composite 'silk & steel' strings for over 20 years on my 68 Martin Brazilian D35 12string and for 10 years on my Heritage 355 acoustic electric. I love the warm rich tones and easy fingering. Get some - Play Happy at a Great Price! When I read Martin was producing a 'flexible' core all steel string I was skeptical concerning tension and issues with capo's.

.I bought these strings because my fingers are getting old and stiff. I was looking for a softer bend and smooth feel. I expected to give up some tonal qualities and volume, but, to my surprise these strings give me everything I was looking for without any sacrifice. These are great strings.

.Overall I wouldn't use any other strings unless I have no choice
I love these Martin guitar strings, Very seldom that I would use another brand (only if I can't get the martins) They are light enough to get that crisp sound the way all acoustic acoustics should sound, and you can get the low bass tone also, For the price I don't think you could get a better product, If you have never tried them, You should go out and get a set, You will be pleasantly surprised
Like there guitars, The strings have the same quality
The price is great, Like I wrote above, You can't beat the price

.They were cheap and the flexible core idea was interesting so I bought a couple of sets. After a couple of hours playing, I can't say that I notice any big difference in playability. What I do notice is all treble, no bass. The quality is OK for the price but they are not something I would buy again.

.I'm really liking these strings. I have used D'Adarrio exclusively for years. These strings might just top them. I admire and trust Tommy Emmanuel and these are the strings he uses and recommends. When he says they are the best sounding strings he has ever played I believe him. I have only used them a couple of days so can't vouch for longevity, but they sound absolutely fantastic. Bright and clear. Great intonation. i think I have found my new favorite strings.

.Recently tried these strings on my Martin OMCA4 .
A relief on my fingers and my hand doesn't cramp up playing long gigs. The added plus is these Strings sound great acoustically as well as plugged into an amp.

Haven't experienced breakage/snapping while playing / changing strings as mentioned in a prior review.

I will also give the FX 80/20 lights a try on my acoustic/electric. From the reviews they also seem like a good first or second choice.

.Always use Martin Strings on my acoustic's. Tried these for the first time and really like them. Much easier on the fingers :-)

.Hard to beat for sound/value
I have tried all kinds of strings. I consider the FX 80/20 to have the best sound for the dollar that last the longest. When they first go on, they have insanely powerful. In 2-3 weeks you lose some of the projection but they wear so well that I don't notice any change in overall sound for 4-5 weeks at least. I have had some sets on those guitars I play less for 2-3 months and they sound decent.

Buy four every six months and you are done. The tension is so low that it is great for fingerstyle and they just don't buzz. Buy a set of mediums with more sound and less tension that the average pair of lights. Lots of projection and great sound for a great price per set??? No brainer!

And if watch the sales, I picked these up on sale! 10 boxes a year and I'm good!
Last forever
Best bang for buck

.Sounds good but seriously needs a quality check
I have bought these strings for years and thought they sounded great and loved them but recently every time I buy a new set of strings they snap for no reason. Not while im playing or while i was tuning. This has happened about 3-4 times in a row where I can't play my guitar due to the strings snapping within a day, like my D and G strings, which really have no reason to break at all
