Product Features

The ACS-SA KOA Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar blends classical guitar concepts with elements of solid body design. The incredibly comfortable neck from the Multiac Nylon is used here with a maple body and a stunning, figured koa wood top. Although the body is chambered, response from the top is more typical of a solid body design than that of a traditional acoustic guitar. This design results in an instrument that is virtually free of feedback, making it easy to use even when the band gets loud.

The engine includes individual transducer saddles powered by a customized preamp system from the RMC Pickup Company. This system not only produces superb amplified sound, but also produces a hexaphonic output through a 13-pin connector enabling direct access to Roland GR-Series guitar synthesizers.

Includes gig bag.

This guitar is stunningly beautiful. It played great right out of the box, with no adjustment necessary. Like my other Godins it has that superb feel of a high quality instrument. Because it is a solid body classical it produces virtually no sound when not plugged in, making it great for practicing scales in the wee hours when others are sound asleep. The killer on this guitar is that when I plugged it into my Roland amp, it sounded so cheezey that I couldn't believe my ears. Unless I rolled the treble completely off, the first two strings sounded like a plastic Gene Autry. I can't believe Godin sent this instrument out. I sent it back.

.Classical guitars are great for classical music. But you have to deal with a lot of overtones, and feedback, in an amplified situation, and signal processing is an after thought. All the Godin nylon string guitars are great for recording and performance, but the tone of the Koa topped version is a little more defined, more articulate than the cedar topped versions. This is not a classical guitar. The neck is narrower, for one thing. But as a platform for nylon string timbres for ambient, nuevo flamenco, bossa nova, jazz explorations, it's a wonderful instrument, and addresses a number of the issues that classical guitars bring to that party, especially, the price. It's an electric piezo instrument, and needs eq adjustment--but one's expectations need adjustment, as well. It's a modern synthesis of guitar traditions. There is a reason why so many nylon string Ukulele's made in Hawaii are Koa. Koa and nylon are very friendly together and get along rather well.
