Product Features

The Seagull Coastline Series Slim Dreadnought Cutaway QI is an acoustic-electric guitar that offers you full sound with warm mid-range tone and of course the award winning craftsmanship and value Seagull is known for. Seagull's Slim Dreadnought guitars feature an ultra-thin semi-gloss finish, a slim neck with slimmer nut width, and select pressure-tested solid cedar top.

The back and sides of Coastline Series guitars are crafted from a 3-layer lamination of wild cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a mahogany guitar and the bright sound of maple, wild cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tonewood. Grown locally, wild cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice for guitar construction. Coastline Series guitars all feature very smooth necks made from silver leaf maple.

The Godin EPM Quantum acoustic guitar system is simple in design and outstanding in performance. This single source system features an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer carefully matched to side mount electronics with rotary volume, bass, and treble controls. The electronics and controls are packaged in a small and easy to use format complemented with a finely crafted pewter cover plate. In combination with the transducer, the EQ control range and frequency content have been specifically contoured to provide a very rich and full sound reproduction resulting in performance seen only in far more complex systems.

I would say for this product, and factoring the quality of the manufacturer, that this is a very solid intermediate-journeyman guitar. It doesn't have to be a 5-star product to be an excellent instrument, as I will personally attest to. A Seagull under a grand is good enough, let alone the build quality and the quality of materials included in this particular one. Certainly can't go wrong with it.
Seagulls don't tend to be overloaded with features, which is fine; reverb and other effects don't work as well built in as they do in a floor model. A tuner is really the only thing aside from the volume and tone controls that you would ever need on the electronic side.
Not much compares to the quality of these guitars. I have played many variations and have always been impressed; lower end models tend towards more of a Martin or Chaylor sound, with higher end models sounding more like Breedloves; just rich, aboundng tone.

I say the quality is splendid because my own Seagull is over a decade old and sounds excellent still. Harmonics are beautiful, nothing is loose, no deformation or give anywhere to be found. The standards of build quality have not changed, and the products retain their usefulness a very long time.
I think any guitar that outlasts 2 or 3 normal guitar's lifetimes is something special. I've never known a guitar that didn't at least need it's electronics serviced after 3 or 4 years, but these just don't stop. The electronics on my Seagull (a very early dreadnought from them) still work wonderfully, owing to who they have helping them produce their electronic components. All Seagulls are made through Godin, who are more renowned in the guitar world, and make some fine electronic components. All that together insures a higher degree of value than in other brands.

.I've had this guitar for a year and three months, and I've got to say that you really need to be committed if you want to buy this guitar! It has really good wood built in, you just need to be sure to take care of it so it will always play in the best shape possible. The battery life on the electric parts and tuner really lasts long and is a good value to have, but when plugged in to anything, it's not generally very loud.If you have a lot of patience and want to play around to know this guitar really well, I suggest you get it!Every time I get strings, they dull out pretty quick. It could just be me using them, I'm not sure, but it will need string changes often for it to have the amazing tone that it has the potential to create.

.This is my 2nd Seagull. I bought an Entourage a few years ago and it has become my "go to" guitar. I have a Martin DCX1RE I've been using in my studio and while I loved its tone I was never crazy about the way it played. I've had some problems with my lft. hand strength and decided to try a Seagull S6 cutaway to see if it might work better for me. Right out of the box it played great and when I took it into the studio the sound was wonderful. While I still love the tone of my Martin, I equally love the tone of this guitar. It is full, rich and round with a nice "punch" thanks to it's tight grained spruce top and bracing. The electronics are straight forward and do a great job-the built in tuner is a bonus I'm growing to love. Cosmetically the guitar is beautiful-nothing fancy but the workmanship and finish are top notch. Truthfully there is nothing I don't love about this guitar.
