I recieved the guitar and a roadrunner gig bag about a month ago. It arrived in 2 days with UPS ground shipping, tho the box was punched in in one area it missed the guitar by a hair.
Second Seagull here, had an S6+ dread for many years. Wanted a smaller body for comfort and fingerstyle, and this one fits the bill. The only alternative to the Seagulls in this price range are Chinese, also I like the use of native to Canada woods. Only the fingerboard is rosewood, the rest is spruce, maple and wild cherry. I accept the tradeoff of longterm stability from the laminate back and sides, my old s6 held up well over 15 yrs of daily use.

It has opened up well over the month of playing, yesterday I put a new set of John Pierce lights on and it stepped up another notch in tone. I lowered the saddle about 1/32" at string change and will do it again next time the strings are off. The factory set up was not bad at all, and would have been fine for a flatpicker.

The S6 Folk fits my needs perfectly, and was within my budget. 5 stars.

.While this guitar starts with a stated generous 1.8 width at nut, do not assume it finishes off in any exciting manner. The manufacture does not state string spacing at saddle and if you ask them they come back with dimensions smaller than a "Little Martin" travel guitar? Something may have been lost in translation there. Anyway, it appears to be smaller at saddle than the average OM that starts at 1.75. Perhaps none of this is an issue for you.

I really wish all manufacturers would do what Martin does and state widths at Nut / 12th fret / and string spacing at saddle. More and more people are doing fingerstyle and spacing for your other hand should be addressed.

To put things into prospective: I have two American Breedlove's that start at 1.75 nut and finish with a 2 1/4 string spacing at saddle which is, for me, great for the fingerstyle hand of a flesh player. Mirroring the Breedlove and Seagull saddle string spacing, you don't need a ruler to see the clear winner.

All said, I'm rather attached to this guitar and the price range allows it to be a beater type guitar for me. Guitarist have a habit of not playing there better guitars because their beaters are always out of the cases (if you even have one for it) and laying out around the house for easy access.

10+ years ago Seagull and their price range had very little equals on the market, especially for fingerstyle players. There are a lot of Martins now with very generous string spacing and very near this price range now. If Martin left the electronics out of them, they would likely could come in with a street price under this Folk model.

The Martin GPX1AE should be looked at if you are considering this Seagull. But mind you those level Martins are NOT manufactured in the USA. Quality wise not an issue, but perhaps emotionally wise you'd rather use a manufacture North of the Border instead of South and a few years ago Seagull actually opened a plant in Berlin, New Hampshire!

.Ive had this guitar for almost 5 years and have struggled to find anything better. The neck is similar to a Fender Stratocaster in shape and is great. Not too big, not too small, just about right for a well rounded acoustic guitar. Well made, five years of wear, no issues. I would buy one again if lost, stolen, or broken.

.Well, I just love this little folk guitar. Has all the specs I was looking for. I love the warm cedar top, perfect intonation, action, mid range tone, and just right to sing with. The fit and finish with seagulls just keeps getting better – heck flawless. Its also cool that its made in North America (Canada). So easy to play too. Thanks Godin for manufacturing this high level of quality at a modest price.

.They make a big deal about the unconventional head helping it to stay in tune, but truthfully, I've not had much probably with this in most of the guitars I have played.

The main problem with this guitar is its thin, "small guitar" sound. It sounds fuller than a mandolin, but still, that is the tonal quality it reminds me of. If you're looking for a warm, rich sound, you will be disappointed. Considering the measurements, it is probably the shallow depth 83mm (3.25 inch) at the neck, and 103mm (4 inches) at the deep end, that accounts for the tinny sound. Good for a travel guitar, maybe, but that's about it.
