The Peavey PV 215D is a powered, quasi-three-way, sound reinforcement speaker system engineered to provide very high levels of performance in a compact powered loudspeaker. The PV 215D is capable of generating peak SPL up to 127 dB. The lightweight yet rugged carpet covered enclosure facilitates portable use for live music or PA sound. The trapezoidal cabinet has steel handles on either side for ease of portability, and four rubber feet for floor use. Black steel corners provide road protection to the cabinet. A black full-length powder-coated perforated steel grille provides driver protection and a professional appearance.
The PV 215D speaker system includes an internal power amp to drive its own speakers. It supplies up to 800 watts peak available power to the internal speakers. The amplifier is equipped with DDT compression, providing protection from excessive amplifier clipping and the consequent distortion. A balanced input to the preamp/EQ electronics consists of one combo female XLR and 1/4" TRS phone jack. A Contour switch provides some bass and treble lift when used as a background music source, etc. A Link Out 1/4" phone jack provides a pre-level send for linking multiple units together.
A loudspeaker with unparalleled performance and value.

I am a lifelong musician and I also am a skilled electronic repairman. I build custom tube amps and effect pedals to pass the time. A customer brought two of these in that were being used in a church. Both Class-D Plate Amps were dead. Upon opening them up and inspecting the Plate Amps, I found several areas on the PC Boards that were fried. Further diagnosing showed similar component failure on both amps. I called Peavey to inquire about (1) failure history (2) replacement plate amp availability and cost. (3) The bottom line... the replacements were expensive (not worth it) and they only had a few left in stock and that tells me that failure has been an issue. These do have a great crossover and speakers, so I make blank metal plates for the back and install a few speaker jack, making them passives. They sound great... but I would avoid purchasing these. I would recommend the Mackie Thump Series if you're looking for a powered speaker.Peavey PV 215D Dual 15" Powered Speaker
.We use a pair of these powered PV215s for our main speakers. We purchased them as restocks and they sound really great. Recently our Mackie passive mixing board failed at an outdoor concert so we went to our old backup Peavey powered mixer.
In his haste, our soundman accidentally connected these Peaveys using the powered main output of the mixer instead of the line level output. We didn't realize this and played for almost 3 hours until we noticed that one of the speakers stopped working. Note I said ONE of them failed....the other one never blew even though were feeding a powered speaker with a speaker level source, exceeding the maximum input capacity by some incredible amount.
The craziest part is that the speakers were daisy-chained and it was the second one in the chain that blew, not the one that was directly connected to the speaker output.
Fortunately for us, because we bought restocks we also bought Custom Guitars Friend Gold Coverage so the blown unit was replaced for free. But the fact that the other one never blew still has us amazed. You will never go wrong trusting Peavey quality and durability.
Better still - MF must have been out of restocks because they sent us a brand new factory-sealed PV215 as the replacement for the blown restock unit. If there is better equipment coverage out there we haven't heard if it. As always, MF service is tops.
Peavey durability saved our performance and Custom Guitars Friend service saved our wallet. These are 2 very fine companies. And yes, we have a new soundman!
