My wife and I have a duo, guitar and congas plus backing tracks. After years of lugging around big powered speakers and all that goes with such a system, we decided to "downsize". I've always had good luck with Peavey equipment. We wanted as close to an "all in one" PA as we could find. We considered Bose, Fishman SA, Fender Expo, etc. We needed more than 2 inputs and didn't want to carry an extra mixer. The Escort 5000 is the answer for us. It has more than enough power. The sound quality is excellent, smooth and full for 10 inch speakers. Excellent mixer options. All channels have full EQ, including the "mid-morph" middle adjustment. Good quality digital effects and a seven band graphic EQ. As I stated earlier, we use backing tracks. The Escort has a dedicated "media" channel. Very cool and useful. 3 different input choices. We can run our tracks with an iPhone or iPod via 3.5mm jack, or use a laptop via the USB or RCA inputs. Again, the dedicated media input has full EQ functions. Most everything you need to get up and running is included in the rolling case. Hey, the stands are not heavy duty, they can't be and still fit in the case. The good thing is, the bottom of the speakers have two openings, one for the smaller included stands and a standard 2 inch opening if want to haul standard speaker stands with you. Cables are OK, 15 ft. We also ordered the stand. It is a bit awkward in terms of assembling it but does the job and puts the mixer up at a height you can use. As far as it fitting in the case along with the stands, I think that may be a stretch. My days of crawling around on the floor hooking up power and speakers cables is done. I'm a bit older and bending etc. is getting tougher. Peavey has saved the day for us with this system.
