In addition to all the boutique qualities and hot-rodded tones that guitarists have come to expect from the ValveKing series, the new generation line incorporates brand new cutting-edge features for recording and performing musicians. For the recording musician, the ValveKing features a USB-direct recording output, which pipes the miked amp vibe directly into a computer. On the rear panel, the built-in Peavey MSDI (Microphone Simulated Direct Interface) XLR direct interface eliminates the need for miking by allowing users to send the amp's signal directly to a recording device or mixing console.

With versatile tone for rock, jazz, or metal, the new generation ValveKings have the capabilities to create almost any sound imaginable. ValveKing's proprietary Vari-ClassTM knob enables guitarists to adjust the ValveKing's "class" characteristics, allowing for complete power amp type versatility. True to its name, ValveKing even includes the new TSITM tube-monitoring indicator that keeps you apprised of the health of your tubes.

ValveKing offers other high-end features, including variable power control, so you can tailor your output to your performance situation without compromising tone. With triple 12AX7s, two independent foot-switchable channels each with their own EQ, and the Vari-Class variable Class A/AB simulation control, the next generation ValveKing delivers massive amounts of completely customizable all-tube power.

I've been a musician for over 40yrs. and, I had been thinking about adding a tube amp to my collecton of musical gear. Back in the 60's when I started playing, tube amps were all the was, solid state had not been introduced yet. Throughout the years of playing I was drawn to the SS amps for the versatality of sounds they could produce, the lighter weight, and, they were less expensive, plus there were no tube issues to deal with.
I'm not playing as much now as I was 20yrs. ago and, I believe that the tubes that are made now are much better than the old ones, which should make them last longer. When I received this amp and, plugged in for the first time the first thing that I noticed was how clean and, full it sounded and, then I dialed in the lead channel and, that unmistakable overdriven tube sound was there. I have pedals that sound good but, that tube overdriven sound just knocked me out. I ordered the two button LED footswitch for the convienence of changing channels and, works as it should. One reviewer commented that he did'nt like the 1/2 second lag between switching the channels but, I have gigged with this amp and, it really didn't cause me any problems.
The boutique features of this amp are very usefull, the reverb is quite adaquate for most applications and, I will add that this amp can get LOUD! The feature of changing the power of the amp with the switch on the back side is great for home use and, practice. There are a lot of nice features that are built into this amp and, the price is affordable for any working musicians. I really enjoy this amp and,I recommend it to anyone wanting to purchase a tube amp.

.This is a fine amp (new version 2. Once dialed-in you won't miss a Hot Rod Deluxe. Feature set is good: 2 footswitch jacks for channel, effects loop, reverb and gain or boost; Power tube bias adjust(you can use EL-34s if you want); Too many features to list. So to make it great here's what I found: First, set the power tube bias because it's cold from the factory. Next, don't worry about the speaker. I tried a Fender (Eminence)in there and the stock speaker is fine(actually good, you can see as well as hear) by comparison. Finally, Change out the stock tubes when you can. The stock Ruby's are just OK.

.Bad stuff first. The speaker and cab. But I don't mean they are bad at all. Still ok stuff so don't be put off at all. Now the good stuff. Everything. It is about time somebody gave us an amp with all totally useable features. It does all they claim. Works well at lower volumes and can get real loud. NO rattles or noises any where to be found.Great responsive tone. Iam very particular. Even a little OCD about my gear. Iam overwhelming happy with this amp. Nice cleans, gain, reverb, etc.. And I honestly feel like I got over on Peavy for the price. Oh and this is only after an hour of play... I just got it and felt so strongly about this amp I had to share .GET ONE ... You will love it. No regrets. THANKS PEAVY...

.Just got one of these since my marshall combo started having problems at my last gig. I dropped my Marshall off for repair and went to the music store accross from my amp guy, and started checking out small combo rigs.

I tried a Marshall jvm2015c, and it was fine, but this amp was 1/3rd the price, 50 watts, and switchable to 12/2 watts as well. Sound was fine, even with 6l6 tubes, but you can swap out for EL34's if you like. I will decide later.

I've heard complaints about the reverb, it has a bit of a chorus effect if you turn it up high. I like it for some things, adds some extra sparkle to the cleans (which are nice on this amp).

Plenty of dirt and sustain on tap as well. Peavy must have read my mind when they designed this, because they took all the features I'd love to have in a boutique amp, and put them in an affordable amp for the working musician. Very flexible, easy to use. Just wish it came with foot switches, but for this price its hard to beat. I've been a pro musician for a long, long time. I've played through and owned lots of top notch stuff. Would I take it in the studio? Probably not, but for live gigs, its fine and I don't have to worry about my expensive amps getting damaged by some drunk or careless band mate, lol.

.It performs just as Peavy claims. Useable features that really work as they should.Distortion is in the middle of a fender and a marshall tone wise. Sounds great at low volumes and gets crazy loud as well.Although you may want to personalize it to make it yours, out of the box it is very impressive. The tone and overall feel to this amp is top notch.Run it through a 2x12, 4x12 and it is insane. You can really tweak it to get the tone and vibe of a lot of different amps. And the price point makes it that much sweeter. Your hard pressed to find an amp this good at twice the price . GREAT AMP... I had given another review when I first got it.Ive had it for 3 weeks now. The amp now that it is breaking in just keeps sounding better and better.

.This amp just seems to get better every time I play through it. So far I've really only played it at the 2 watt setting in a bedroom. I AM really looking forward to getting it in a more open space and unleash the 50 watts of awesome tone. So many useable setting such as the dampening and A/AB select knobs. when using it even at the lowest wattage(2watts), you can get some great tones out of it. Picked this up just before Labor Day on MF on sale and then they took another 15% off.....SCORE! Thanks Custom Guitars Friend!!! Buy it, you wont be disappointed!!!

.This is a very versatile tube amp with a ton of great functions. My favorite is the 3 position power switch (2,12 or 50 amps). That's one of the reasons I bought this amp. You can use it for home practice and believe me 2 amps is plenty loud for home practice plus it has the plenty of power for gigging. 50 amps turned up will rock your house of it's foundation. This is a great feature not found on other amps in this range(dsl40, BS40, HRD), as is the variable A A/B switch. The clean channel is outstanding and the bright switch adds versatility from a cold sterile clean to a bright sparkly clean. Why 4 stars and not 5?The dirty channel and the speaker. I swapped the speaker out for a WGS retro 30 and it was a dramatic improvement. The dirty channel I'm also not crazy about. The gain is too much and too sensitive. I like to play mostly classic hard rock(Rush, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, etc.) and some classic metal(Priest Sabbath, Maiden) and I find the gain switch unusable past 2. Any higher than that and it starts to sound like a distorted, saturated, muddy mess; maybe good for modern metal IDK. So the usable range on the gain switch for me is between 1-2 which as you can imagine is quite difficult to dial in. I've found it easier to use an overdrive pedal on the clean channel to get good sounding hard /classic rock tones. It sounds great like that but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a tube amp and a dirty channel to begin with. I think if Peavey would upgrade the stock speaker and have a less sensitive gain nob, this would be the ultimate all-purpose amp. The speaker was a simple and relatively inexpensive fix. The gain, however, is not an easy solution. Right now I'll just keep it turned down as low as possible and use the controls on my OD pedal which are much more fine-tunable.

.What a great amp for the money. The clean channel can be dialed in to just about any sound you need. The overdrive channel is my favorite and Is good enough so you don't need an overdrive pedal. I have used Strats, Telecasters, Les Paul's and a P-90 guitars with this amp and they all sound good. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
Peavey ValveKing II 50 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Black
.50 watts of tube power and tone in an easy to handle combo is hard to beat. Add to that all the bells and whistles this amp is packing and it becomes a valuable tool in a working and/or home recording players gear collection.
The bang for the buck is going to be very hard to match. Peavey really did it right updating the ValveKing line and keeping it well within reach of the everyman musician.
Peavey ValveKing II 50 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Black
.There is a short (1/2 second) delay when switching from clean to distortion. Can be an issue for live performances, depending on your music (I like to play clean and then hit the distortion for impact, the delay kills the moment). Told by Peavey this is to eliminate unwanted noise when switching channels and there is no option.
