Great bass for the price. Keeps true to the fretless P-bass sound, and I liked it better that the J-bass version. Could use some better pickups (Seymour Duncan; Quarter Pound is a good choice), to get more mid scoop. Also, a high mass bridge (BA II) would be good too, but I am absented with finding a better sound. I an not sure about the ebanal fingerboard yet, but we will see. All in all I am very happy! .Ok, I have had this bass 3 months now,and I love it. This is a "Solid Bass," good sound (electronics time tested and reliable), the edonol fretboard is in great shape, neck is strait and true, light weight, and way fun to play. I still think a stronger pickup and high mass bridge would be cool, but is not needed to get that clasic fretless sound (it's all in the hands man, and takes sometime in the woodshed). All I have done to mine is add bridge and pickup covers (very old school cool), new strings (black beauties lights), and strap locks. Just set it up the way you like it and have fun. I would put this bass up against others that cost way more and I would still pick this bass! B-)

.I was very excited when I saw this bass and I ordered one immediately. When it arrived, I was floored by how bad the construction was. Dried glue in various places, scratches on the fretboard (which was a shiny black, almost plastic), and a pickguard that looked like very, very cheap imitation tortise shell (it looks better in the picture). It could be that I just got a dud, but this never, ever should have left the Fender factory. I'm not a prima donna when it comes to instuments. This one was just absolutley horrible.

.I've had an active 5-string fretless for 20+ years, and I've always wanted a 4-string passive fretless to pick up and mess around with. And this thing does not disappoint. It's got plenty of lows, enough highs, and lots of midrange mwah-growl if you dial it in. The roundwounds it comes with produce a pretty rocking tone, and I found myself jamming to songs that aren't played on a fretless and loving it. The hard ebonol fretboard adds some brightness to the tone. I did replace the strings already, but that's because I prefer nylon tapewound on my fretless, so I got some Fender 9120's and I couldn't be happier.

.Product is perfect to play at home or at a small venue with friends. I've played for various years I have a a 5 String Stagg and a 4 String Stingray, I saw this bass and wanted to test it out. I had bad experiences with a SS Squier once but I decided to give this bass a go. Best Choice I made
