I am 58 years old and have been playing since I was 10. I build guitars and set them up for other people. I am not a novice who bought something and am just gripping about it.________________
When will I learn to NOT go by reviews on these sites?
I got this thing and right off the bat I could tell that the nut wasn't right. This isn't a "bone" nut, or even a "plastic" one. The thing on the guitar that I got feels like some kind of vinyl. The third string was absolutely dead. I removed the strings to make the slots a bit bigger and to TRY and round them out a bit. I also had to clean up the front and back of the nut as it looked like it was cut with a hacksaw with pieces of "whatever it is made of" sticking out of each string groove front and back.
Then comes the next problem: The neck tension is as loose as it can get without falling apart inside the neck (if that were possible). I tightened it up a bit and set the neck as best as I could until I could restring it.
Problem number three: The tuning keys on this thing are not even good enough to call trash. A few of them are so hard to turn that I was tempted to use pliers on them.
I got the neck tension set as well as possible after restringing. The nut is still a lost cause. whatever the soft material is that it is made from is going to keep grabbing the strings. It won't stay in tune. Not that any of that matters as again: The tuners are not even good enough to call trash. And it's not like you can just replace them. Anyone who has one of these knows that is not the case. Nothing fits this thing.
I forgot to mention that the output jack nut was ready to fall off. I will have to remove the jack plate and tighten that thing up.
I am disappointed. I bought this for my granddaughter to learn on. I don't see how my daughter is going to even attempt to tune this thing for her as I can barely turn the tuners myself.
If it weren't so close to Christmas, I would send it back. This is the worst purchase I have ever made from Custom Guitar's Friend in the many years I have been shopping here - and it just HAD to be a guitar for my seven year old granddaughter.
I think I am going to start buying locally. It might cost more, but at least you can see what you are getting.

.I used to teach guitar and played professionaly as well. This is a perfect guitar for a beginner, it stays in tune, has a very light action on the finger board, and sonuds great. Nothing is more discouraging for a beginner than to have what they are playing sound awful when they are doing it right.

.This is a nicely finished small electric at a good price. Tuned carefully you can get a nice sounding chord. The bridge adjusts string height and intonation. My two five year old granddaughters like "Fresh Beat Band", love this guitar, and are learning to play guitar. The guitar is a little big for a small child, but I shortened the strap and we only play simple triads(chords) using the E,B and G strings.

.I bought this for my 6 year old daughter for x-mas,so she has yet to play with it,but I have and I loved the sound of it,it is on a mustang 1 and it sounds awsome!
A whammy bar would have been nice, but for the price I love it!
Seems to be very nicely built.
For the price its a nice looking and great sounding guitar.

.Make no mistake, this a strat. True, it's great for kids and beginners, but I have used one to play in coffee houses and restaurants for the past three years. I had a mild stroke which left three fingers on my left hand numb. I've made no mods on anything and it sounds and plays better than the mexican strat I played a few years back. For the price, there is nothing in this class that can touch it.

.I purchased this guitar for my 4 y/o daughter. She loves to sit on my lap and strum my guitars (usually as I am looking to get some practice).
It is a little big for her and it is electric, but it plays well unplugged, and should give her something to grow into and years of service. I was against purchasing one of the cheapo childrens' acoustic guitars found in many of the local department stores because I figured that I would be able to use it as a traveling guitar if she lost interest.
As usual MF was all over the shipping and delivery of the guitar (received it in 3 days). The guitar was in great condition with the exception of the stock strings (usually a gimme). The finish was flawless with the exception of a tiny chip in the middle of the finger board on the 13th. The frets were finished to a state that would be acceptable on a higher priced guitar (no sharp edges here). The tuners are a little rough but adequate. The setup was, in my opinion, great. I tuned it easily with absolutely no fret buzz on a low action, and the intonation was nearly perfect. The electronics work smoothly with no scratchy noise when you transition or adjust.
I don't currently have a "Fender" made guitar of my own, but the quality of this little guitar has me looking to add one to my collection.
Most importantly, my daughter loves it. She can now sit and strum all by herself (thank goodness for the large pick guard), and I can practice along with her without having to hold her while she strums a full size guitar.
I'm very pleased with the money spent.

.I guess the demand for this guitar was pretty high because I was informed right away that it was backordered. This was going to be a gift for the granddaughter of one of my guitar students. I was more concerned about getting one in perfect condition more than getting one right away. When I finally got it, within a reasonable amount of time, the tone control didn't work at all and the volume control didn't function until the last 10% or less of the turn of the knob. So it went from silent to full volume with nothing much in between. Otherwise the guitar was nice looking and playable so I had hopes for the replacement order. When that one came it was so close to having the same issues that I thought it could possibly be the exact same guitar. Bui who knows? Maybe the quality control was way down due to trying to play catch up with a lot of back orders. As it turned out, the third shipment of this guitar was the charm. Everything worked as it should. I did a bit of a set up on it but it seemed pretty good right out of the box. For the price I think it's a good deal although I could have done without the hassle of making two returns. My wife has said she never wants to play an electric guitar (she plays a classical) but upon seeing and trying this one she was almost ready to say that she wanted one for herself. So I may end of getting another one of these some day. I think (and hope) my luck will be better on getting one that's perfect now that the backorders are probably all taken care of, but I'd be ready to make a return if necessary. BTW... Custom Guitars Friend was friendly and helpful when assisting me with the returns.

.Great little guitar for my daughter. High quality, stylish craftsmanship just like the stratocaster. Comfortable for her to sit down and practice with or stand to jam with. I am very happy with this purchase!
