I have been playing bass for 28 years and the quality of this bass is every bit as good as any fender I've played. Don't let the Squier name on the headstock fool you. If you are looking for an affordable, basic precision bass in black with a gloss maple neck, this is the one.Like every bass I have ever played, this one was in need of a proper set up. A slight relief adjustment and I was able to set the action really low. I also restrung the E and A strings to make sure they were low enough on the tuning pegs to break properly over the nut. Absolutely no fret buzz and plays great. Nice hi mass bridge with plenty of adjustability. The stock pickups have plenty of output and that classic fender p bass tone. The finish was excellent.
This is an excellent bass for the money. I was able to get mine as a scratch and dent special, which made this bass an absolute steal

.First a little background, my main bass has been a 90's Peavey Foundation, but I've owned several additional basses over the past 16 years. After previously owning an Epiphone Thunderbird and realizing that they were nothing but poor quality, licensed knock-offs, I was very skeptical about buying a Squier. I feared it would be a low quality Fender knock-off. However, I could not find a single bad review for this bass. It looks fantastic, and I really wanted a traditional p-bass sound, so I ordered one. I was blown away by the sound quality and playability of this bass! It plays better than the overly expensive Modulus bass that I used to own! The sound is exactly what I was looking for, classic precision bass tone! Of course that's partially due to the fact that it comes with Fender Pure Nickel strings on it. This bass does not disappoint! It's got the looks, tone, and playability of a much more expensive instrument. It's worth every penny!

.I was debating between this one and the Nate Mendel series p-bass. I'm glad I chose this one and saved a few hundred quid. I'm sure the Nate Mendel is great, but I for what I needed this bass for, it is working great!! The action came a little high for my taste, but other than that it was good to go straight out of the box!

.Compared to the Fender American Standard P-bass that I've owned, this one is surprisingly close. The tone is very good, the looks are better in my opinion. This gloss black, with gloss, maple, block inlay is gorgeous!!
I'm loving this bass. It did need an initial setup to get the intonation and lower the string height to my liking, but now it is my go to bass for that p-bass, simplicity and warm tone.
