Very nice right out of the box. Setup was almost perfect. Frets were finished nice and the action was nice and low.

Plays great, sounds good. Only thing I would change is maybe the tuners and definitely the humbuckers. What a steal

.Needs some fret leveling. Quite a few high spots with the resulting fret buzz when adjusted within Fender specs. Other than that it's very fun to play, nice and light with the thinner body. I like the tone, especially with both pickups on. I got the blue one. The metalflake finish seemed a bit over the top and gawdy at first, but it grows on you fast. Very nice guitar for the price, except for the fretbuzz. But I probably just got an exception to the rule, and most of them are probably better. I can return it but probably will just keep it.

This Squire is easy to pick up and hard to put down. The blue metal flake finish and white peck guard are sweet, and she was perfectly playable out of the box. After action adjustments and intonation, she was good to go, though I'll change the strings soon. I wasn't thrilled with the tones on modeling amps, but paired with my Blackstar Tube amp, she came alive. The trem works just fine. The satin finished neck is a bonus. At the price, a total no brainer. Outshines much more expensive Fenders.

.I forgot to mention in my other review that the tuners are hard to turn. The first thing I thought was the tension screws were too tight. But adjusting didn't help, even when all the way loose. The only thing I can think of is that maybe they didn't lubricate them enough. That's what it feels like...as if they have very little or no grease in the gears. But it's probably one in a thousand that got by inspection. Like I said, overall it's still a great deal. The fret buzz is really minor and when plugged in the amp, is hardly noticeable. As a matter of fact this thing is so much fun to play it's the one I always reach for anymore even though I have a nice hollow electric. I just love the light weight and the narrow 1.60" fretboard. (If you have very large fingers it might not be for you though). What a refreshing change. Tired of big, heavy, unwieldy, bulky doghouses hanging from my neck with wide fretboards. I raised my rating because of the awesome fun factor and cool factor. I never get tired of playing it!

.I bought this guitar because it was the cheapest way to get a Strat style body with a decent glitter
finish and a usable neck. The tuners are so-so; they feel uneven when tuning, but are reasonably
precise. I generally hate humbuckers, but I gave the ones on the guitar a chance before I threw
them in my junk pickup box. They are wax-potted, with ceramic magnets and 10K ohms for the front
and 10.5K ohms for the rear. They had surprisingly good high end response, but the low E string sounded kind of unfocused and lacking in attack. Distorted they were rather murky and vague; the
490T's in my Flying V sound WAY better. The nut slots needed to be filed, and I had to file the (sharp) fret ends and polish the frets. The truss rod worked fine and the action is good. So now I've installed
locking tuners (peg holes are standard 10mm) Tusq string trees and swapped all the black hardware
for chrome. I dismantled the pickups and turned them into single coils with dummy coils tucked into
the middle pickup rout. I was able to reuse the bobbins and base plate, and was able to install an off
the shelf chrome pickup cover after I filed the base plate corners a little. VERY easy to mod this guitar.
Next up is a brass sustain block, and I'll call it done (for now). Overall, I'd call this guitar a very good
value for the money. I like the thinner, lighter weight body (it's very resonant) and the paint job is better
than the last two Gibsons I bought. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that...

.I play this guitar every day and it sounds amazing.

.I bought this guitar for the Metallic green body . I know it is an inexpensive guitar and didn't expect anything more than that. But the body was cracked at the neck joint which cracked the paint. The neck is very loose grain and bends with just the touch of your hand . So it changes pitch as you play sharp or flat depending. I planned to get it throw the neck and electronics and install a nice warmoth Figured Maple neck and EMG DG20 loaded pickgaurd . Then I'd have a playable guitar . But the body was cracked right out of the box so I just sent it back . Bottom line it's great for what it is. A beginner kids guitar nothing more. I love Custom Guitars friend , great company great service . I also like Squier Guitars and have a few others that I like and play often.
But the are not the affinity series like this one is. Affinity series is equivalent to first act guitars .
