Electro-Harmonix's Frequency Analyzer XO is a guitar effect pedal that adds moving harmonies to the note or chords being played. Unlike other ring modulators, the Frequency Analyzer has controllable high-order filters that reduce cross-distortions and enhance the variations. The Fine control lets you set a single frequency that will then be both added and subtracted from the original note or chord. The pedal's blend control lets you mix the new notes with the original. This is a must-have esoteric pedal, especially for techno cats.

I've been playing with a EHX Frequency Analyzer for a while now and finally bought my own. This pedal is for creating odd harmonies that you wouldn't otherwise attempt, making it a very cool pedal for experimentation. However, to get a musically usable sound out of it you'll have to do some work... as it is not very forgiving on bad notes, unless of course you're after dissonance (its very good at that). .This thing rocks! It is a very solid pedal that will withstand the test of time. Tune your root note in with the Shift Knob, then fine tune it with the Fine knob. I like to detune mine just a little to add a little chorus sounding effect. I like to use the Neck pickup with the blend up all the way.The only problem with this pedal is that you may never want to turn it off!
