Product Features

The Electro-Harmonix Nano Signal Pad Guitar Pedal is a passive attenuator that allows you to instantly switch to a different preset volume. It's like your guitar's volume knob with a fully passive and color-free circuit. Leave your amp's volume set high for overdrive, and use the Signal Pad Pedal to lower your level for a clean sound-then switch it off to kick in your amp's natural overdrive. You can also experiment with the Signal Pad anywhere in your effects chain-you'll bring out new tonal combinations from your favorite old pedals.

True bypass Turn any single channel amp into a 2-channel setup Switch from lead to rhythm on the fly Use in front or after any effects to change the tone of that effect

If you own an amplifier that only has one channel, this pedal can be very useful. I've had three main uses for the Signal Pad:
1) Put in the FX loop and use as in a low-volume application. Great for home practice, or killing the signal if needed.
2) In a good, responsive/dynamic amp, switch between dirty and clean (tube amps fall mainly in this category). Great for old-style Marshall users, Orange users (the Terror line, for example), etc.
3) Peeling back the gain a bit for a rhythm/lead split. Solid-state amps tend to do this more than cut back to clean, but there are exceptions.
If I had a complaint, it would be that the volume cut is too wide - I often never roll lower than 12:00. A more expressive range could be a helpful upgrade.
All in all, this thing is great - no battery required, unless you want to power the LED. Throw some time-based effects in the loop of your JCM 800, put this thing straight in, and enjoy.

.I received my unit a few days ago and have been experimenting with it in front of my Radial ToneBone Hot British Tube Overdrive. When the box is off (LED not on), it is in bypass mode, and is pretty much transparent. When the box is on (LED lit), it obeys the volume setting but tends to compromize my tone somewhat. Sounds like I lose a tiny bit of the high end and a little bottom also. Its built like a tank, has a knob, and a foot switch. If you need a manual for this, see a doctor.

.Great pedal - I use it before my preamp (Eden WTDI) to give me a pad, so I can use my bass volume correctly. Works passive and both active modes well. - Love It!!
Electro-Harmonix Nano Signal Pad Attenuator Guitar Effects Pedal
.Good for personal usage only if you don't want to wake the neighbors, however, not good for band practice or gigs - it attenuates the volume or your amp too much.

.Run this in a series effects loop as a volume cut when on for a rhythm channel. The volume cut darkens the tone, which can be useful especially with a Fender tube amp that is already way too bright and where you have to crank it to get "The Tone." Works good with my Hotrod Deville, but for my Soldano Decatone, I prefer using a BOOST (radial bigshot boost rules!) and getting all the tone. This goes in the opposite direction, but experiment with it- it's cheap and you haven't much to lose.

.This pedal is great if you need a certain level of distortion or overdrive to come out of your amp that you cant get with a regular channel switch. i love the light, bluesy gain coming from my mesa lonestar with the overdrive turned off, but i cant get to the overdrive switch on the amp in show, so it's good to have this little pedal to give me the option. to sum it up it's a pedal that will give you a mid-ground between clean and distorted on your amp, but other than that there's not very much use for it if you use pedals for your drive and distortion

.I'm keeping it because I need it and it works. I'm a bit disappointed in the cons however.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Signal Pad Attenuator Guitar Effects Pedal
.The Signal Pad simply turns your signal down by an amount set by the volume knob. I use it to turn down my guitar when not soloing, but you can also use it to clean up high output pickups, or any use where your guitar signal is too strong. The electronics are completely passive, so you only need to power the pedal, either with a 9V batter or 9V negative center 2.1mm power supply, if you want to see the LED lit when engaged. It's true bypass when not engaged. It works well, and I didn't notice any obvious change in the sound. However, I have noticed a bit more 60Hz hum when the pedal is engaged with my guitar and pedal board. It's possible that you won't experience any hum with your set up.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Signal Pad Attenuator Guitar Effects Pedal
.I use it in my effects loop to allow me to create two different volume levels , one for lead work and one for rhythm playing . It works for that purpose but I wish the potentiometer didn't go all the way to 0dB because I don't see why that would ever be necessary . I can get that with my guitar's volume control . If the maximum attenuation were say 20dB or 30dB the knob wouldn't be so touchy and you could dial in the desired gain cut much easier , for my use anyway .
Electro-Harmonix Nano Signal Pad Attenuator Guitar Effects Pedal
.This pedal is very useful if you know where in the effects chain to put it, and how to use it to its full potential. When I put this after my Q-Tron+ it lowers the punchyness of the Q. I haven't tried it yet with my distortion or with a tube amp, but I'm sure the applications are endless. Great pedal, love EH pedals 4 life!
