This pedal sounded magical when I first purchased it. There are so many ways to tweak the sound of the different types of reverb that it seemed like the skies were the limit. After treating it very gently for a few months, it just stopped working one day. I've asked around and this seems to be a common problem with this pedal. EH doesn't make quality products like they used to. I switched to the T-Rex brand reverb pedal and plan on never purchasing any EH products again.Electro-Harmonix XO Holy Grail Plus Variable Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal
.O.K. I guess I'll be the first to review the Holy Grail Plus since no body chose to do so. This should answer any questions that you might have about the HG+. I own both the HG and HG+ and will give you my honest opinion of both. The HG+ trumps the original Holy Grail. The HG+ has the same lush, natural tone as the HG, but goes a step further. It gives you the ability to control both the amount of reverb(length), and how much of the effect you want mixed with your dry signal. The HG only has one knob to control the level and length of the effect. I run my reverb pedal through the effects loop. I found that I could only use a tiny fraction of the reverb, almost to the point where the effect was practically non existent. Using larger amounts would muddy my tone. Not what I want from a reverb pedal. The HG+ allowed me to increase the amount of reverb to my taste and blend that signal to my dry signal without degrading my tone. It's just what I've been looking for. Now I have that great reverb tone that I got from the HG without it washing out my tone. Another advantage, the HG+ has a lower profile which makes navigating around the pedal board much easier. The casing seems to be more durable as well. If you are looking for an easy to use reverb pedal that is flexible and sounds great, the HG+ is for you.

.A rig without reverb is pretty sterile and lifeless to me, and this pedal is exceptional and sounds very natural. I went with this model of the Holy Grail because of the blend and amount adjustments. There's so much more control over the output. I use the spring setting pretty much all the time, although the hall is very lush. The flerb is quite weird but interesting, but I don't think there's a real practacle place for me to use it quite yet. There's a lot of fun to be had playing around with just the full wet signal on the hall and flerb settings. It works well and sounds awesome with my #1 Echo in front of it. Seems tough and reliable. It doesn't seem to alter the tone and there's no added noise to speak of. I only knocked it down a point because it's sorta spendy.

.I have no idea how this pedal can get such good reviews. I does have a reletivly good reberb effect BUT beware of the backround sounds when you add some drive to your signal, like a humming, even when the effect is not engaged !!!! Also, I added this to my effect board and all of a sudden ALL my amps sounded crappy...I finally pulled this off my board and everything went back to normal. This is my second attempt at buying/using EH effects....you can keep them!!!!! There will not be a third time...

.I like reverb. I watched lots of videos and the sound quality plus the price point of the EH Holy Grail Plus really caught my attention. When I first got the unit it was great. Running through the effects loop or strait in the front of an amp works equally well. Then I noticed when I engaged the pedal, the amp volume would drop. Not a lot, but enough to notice. The louder my amp was, the more noticeable the drop in volume would be. I was using a pedal powering unit which supplies 9V power at 100 mA. I decided to try some "wall wart" power supplies to see if I could eliminate the volume drop problem. When I used one that had 9V, 300 mA it seemed to eliminate the volume drop problem. When I contacted Electro Harmonix they told me the pedal is made to only require a 9V, 100 mA and suggested there was possible a failing component in the pedal. Ive yet to have it serviced and I just use a 300 mA power supply for now. The other problem I have is the effective area of the the sweep of the controls. Its much like a hotel shower hot/cold control knob when a tiny movement of the knob can make the water go from nearly freezing, to roughly the temperature of the sun. The "Amount" control seems to behave this way, basically making most of the sweep of the control, useless. It does have good tone (provided you have 300 mA power supply) on the various reverb settings like room, hall and so on. But I plan on replacing this pedal eventually because of the multiple issues Ive had. I will probably replace it with a TC Electronics Tone Print Reverb because of its smaller size and amount of effects variety.

.It took me quite awhile (and a lot of research) to decide I needed this pedal. I mean, come on...reverb is the most basic effect and has been standard equipment on just about every amp made in the past 50 years. The reverb in some amps is better than others, but just how good does it have to be?
If you play pedal steel guitar like I do, it turns out that reverb is an essential part of your tone. Even after upgrading the reverb tank in my steel amp, I wasn't getting that depth of reverb tone that I was looking for....and of course, anybody who has experience with spring reverbs knows that they get very sensitive to movement when you turn them up to the higher settings onstage.
The Holy Grail Plus solved these problems. It does one thing and does it well. It has a very authentic sounding "Spring" reverb, as well as "Room" and "Hall". For my purposes, the "Flerb" (flanger & reverb)is useless, but that doesn't matter. The important thing is that with the versatility of this unit, I'm able to select the ONE setting that works for me.
The Holy Grail Plus has 3 knobs, giving you some extra control to fine-tune the effects.
"Reverb" switches between 4 main types of reverb: Spring, Hall, Room, and Flerb.
"Amount" controls the intensity of the effect.
"Blend" mixes the wet and dry signal.
Initially, I would have preferred a unit that contained both reverb and delay....which is my default guitar setting. In fact, the unit would be more useful if they added delay instead of flange in the "Flerb" setting and called it "Derb" As it turns out, the "Hall" setting does something similar. In simulating the sound of a hall, it mixes the echo from the virtual walls with the "wet" reverb signal. If you turn the "Amount" and "Blend" knobs to full and hit a string, there is a delay before you hear any sound at all. Delay! Setting both controls around 12 oclock gives you a nice blend of delay and reverb.
I like that this pedal comes with an AC adapter rather than a battery. It's also very quiet. With regards to background noise, I can't hear any hiss or white noise at all.
The bottom line is that although it seems a bit counter-intuitive to buy an effect that's already built into the amp, the Holy Grail Plus does the job better, and gives you a lot more options and control over your reverb. I'd definitely recommend the Holy Grail Plus to anybody who needs something better than their stock reverb.

.So I was tired of using just my amp reverb. I wanted something extra to help get a super erie sound out of my rig for a couple songs, and i thought this pedal would do the trick. And it absolutely did. Here is the problem though. Stand alone, this reverb is great, but when you add other effects with it, it's a MAJOR tone sucker. I tried putting it in the front of my signal train, in the middle, at the end, nothing helped. I tried turning off my amp reverb to use just this, that didn't help either. Long story short, this pedal is not worth the money unless you really dont care about tone. That's it in a nutshell.

.So I wanted an easy to use versatile pedal to make me sound like I'm in any sized room I wanted, but I got more. This pedal is so simple, I was using it wrong the entire time (Amount to full, blend to full) but it still sounded sick.
It's spring reverb gives you an awesome clean bounce while the hall can make you sound like your in anything from a hallway to a cathedral. It also has "Flerb" which is a flanger and reverb mix, which is a strange feature, so far I've only found one place to use it, but it's still a really interesting effect. The only thing I can find that I don't like about this pedal is that it has a bit of white noise that comes out, on or off, especially if the batteries dying, but I don't usually use batteries.

.I already have the Holy Grail, and it's the best reverb I've ever used. The only problem I have with it is that, the similar styled Small Stone, it tends to cut the volume level of your amp. I was building a separate pedalboard for my AC-30, and was looking at different reverbs when I saw this. I basically just use the hall reverb, and for the most part, I tend to leave my control knobs at the halfway point on all of my effect settings. It's nice to have some more variables though. This pedal is built sturdier than it's sibling, and takes a standard 1/4" input jack.

.I have an older version of this pedal. Its the version with the single very large amount control. That, the footswitch and reverb switch. Spring, Hall, Flerb.I never believed in reverb, thought that many guitar players lost there tone and edge by adding to much. this ped changed all that. No I am in love with the erie sounds that can be achieved with this ped. the added depth the massive space you can create.the only disadvantage to my version is that I can not blend the dry and wet signal. That would make it perfect.the draw back to this version is that the knobs are to small. With the large one on my version I am able to change the amount of reverb on the fly. awesome for dynamic changes. I picked up mine used, it had some issues, had to be ran on its own plug to work probably. It would not work well on the power plus 2 with my other pedals. Not because the pedal is faulty, it just draws a lot of juice. Give then a try
