Determines frequency peak of filter. Makes more "effected sound" when turned up more.

I owned this pedal for a few months while in a funk/jazz/prog rock band. The unit really sounds great when it is the only pedal in the chain. The problem is that I like to have at least 3 different guitar tones and this pedal colors your tone and doesn't sound good when trying to use other pedals with it. I tried it on multiple guitar amps and even P.A. systems. So if you need a good envelope sound and nothing else buy this pedal, or if you can get a splitter and run 2 different pedal chains (I did this for awhile but got sick of doing it) then this pedal will work great for you. But if you plan on using multiple pedals in a single chain I would avoid this unit...

.I bought this for a late 70's Jerry Garcia sound and after a little searching I found it. Mix mode is nice, being able to change the direction of the sweep is cool, the effects loop is somewhat overkill and not a necessary feature for me but it goes to show that this pedal does not lack in features. I bought this for live use though and unfortunately it makes a loud popping noise through the amp when switching it on and off. That noise and the pricetag are why I rated it low on quality and value. I will more than likely have to send it back and switch it out for a unit that doesn't pop and when that happens I may feel inclined to rate this a little higher

.Like the title says, I've tried just about every filter on the market... the Q tron plus is the one! The only bummer is the volume boost, but there is an easy solution: you can place a micro volume pedal in the effects loop, or order a custom true bypass loop with a volume for the pedal. I though Q balls series was ok, but there is always a few milliseconds of a delay in the tracking, even when at the fastest (most counter clockwise setting) setting. Therefore, despite the great versatility of the Q balls ( by the way, I thought the Riddle Q balls was better than the enigma q balls because the enigma has a weird, fast automatic envelope close on all your releases, whether you like it or not; and with the Riddle you can fully control the decay and how it closes) the Q tron plus still reigns because of its great, instant tracking and great sound. The slow response setting on the q tron sounds excellent. Mix mode sounds great as well. So far the best sounding filter I've found.

.Best envelope filter out there.....that's all there is.....if you take the time to dial it in for your particular instrument, you'll be pleased. After loving the original Q-tron for years, I bought this one for the extra speed selector feature and smaller size. I use it in the boost mode after a Black Finger compressor (which also boosts my signal) and then I kick my volume pedal back 20% and this thing works perfectly!!!

.Im a funk lover and I was looking for a good Envelope Filter. My parents went to USA and I took the risk of buying it without trying, but when I plugged it with my bass I loved the wide range of possibilities of sound you have with this envelope filter. Simply the best I tried!!!

.I bought this because I had read somewhere that bassists could use it. Even EHX says that bass players can enjoy this effect. I tried it out at a store and thought it was ok enough to buy, but my trial was at low volumes. When I took it to my band rehearsal and played at moderate/loud volumes, it sucked my tone completely. Sounded very wimpy. I was hoping to sound like Bootsie or Flea, but not with this thing. I'm now having trouble deciding between two competitors' products: The BOSS AW-3 (Dynamic Wah) and the MXR M-188 (Bass Auto Q Auto Wah). I like both of these and I'm trying them out and will post reviews one I make my decision!

.The previous review was right on except for the boost knob; one of the best features. When it is "on" the gain knob can be used to CUT the volume as well as boost it. It took me awhile to figure this out too(the manual isn't much help). EH must use the same manual from the old Qtron +. On mine, the knob names don't even match the ones on the pedal. Besides the manual, the only problem with this thing is it's very addictive. You may never turn it off. I haven't used the mini qtron but I'm sure the + is well worth extra cash. I can't imagine it without the response, range, and boost knobs or the sweep switch.
Electro-Harmonix XO Q-Tron Plus Envelope Filter Guitar Effects Pedal
.I've been fiddling with this thing for a couple of days now, and it's quite fun. I chose this model because there's more features than the Mini Q-Tron, and less real estate that the other Q-Tron available. I'm a big fan of the up/down switch for the direction of the sweep and I usually stay in the mix pass mode (band pass combined with the dry signal). I don't use the boost function, because it puts out a quite a bit of signal as it is. I would really like to have a level out control on this thing to tame it down a lot. The Peak and Gain controls perform as exptected. The effects loop can be used to produce sonic whackiness if you have spare effects to use in it. Too bad that the effects in the loop don't work in bypass. I have the #1 Echo and the Holy Grail Plus, both of which are tough and reliable. This is in the same xo line, but it doesn't seem as rugged. Faults aside, it's quite an interesting envelope filter and I'm going to start using it.
