Product Features

The Pitch Fork transposes an instrument's pitch over a +/- three-octave range and features three modes which allow the pitch to be transposed up, down or both, simultaneously. The pitch shift amount can be set to a fixed interval or continuously varied by an expression pedal or control voltage.

The controls are straightforward and intuitive. An 11-position Shift switch selects the maximum transposition interval ranging from D (Detune), a shift of 17 cents, through Minor 2nd, Major 2nd, Major 3rd, Perfect 4th, Perfect 5th, Major 6th, Minor 7th, 1 Octave, 2 Octaves and 3 Octaves. A three-position toggle switch controls whether the pitch is transposed up, down or both. In Dual mode, two pitch-shifted signals are output. One follows the shift knob as if in the Up position while the other creates a harmony. Dual Mode settings include M3 up + P5 up, P5 up + 1 Oct down, 1 Oct up + 1 Oct down and many others. A Blend knob controls the mix of the dry signal and the effected signal, and an EXP jack enables the player to control pitch and glissando with an expression pedal.

The Latch button selects Latch or Momentary mode which affects how the footswitch and EXP input behave. In Latch mode, the footswitch toggles between effect on and buffered bypass each time it's pressed and the EXP input continuously varies pitch. In Momentary mode the effect is only on while the footswitch is depressed and when it is released the Pitch Fork goes into bypass.

In Latch mode the EXP input controls pitch shift amount, ranging from unity to the interval set by the Shift knob, and pitch varies continuously throughout the expression pedal's range. In Momentary mode the EXP input controls glissando rate for the Pitch Fork's footswitch. When the bypass footswitch is pressed, the Pitch Fork jumps from bypass to the interval set by the Shift knob. The amount of time it takes to reach that new note is the glissando rate. When the footswitch is released the pitch will return to unity at the same rate. That glissando time can vary between four milliseconds to two seconds depending on the heel/toe position of the expression pedal. The default glissando rate is 60 milliseconds when nothing is plugged into the EXP input.

The Pitch Fork comes equipped with an EHX 9.6DC-200mA power supply and also runs on a 9-volt battery.

The pitchfork is a very versatile little pedal. It takes up alsmot no space and works great. I think it works best for downtuning to play stuff low like slipknot or not so low to play like van halen. But I mostly use it for low tunings with light gauge strings. On the higher register it gets a bit cheesy sounding but it works. To get other tunings not on the pedal I tune my guitar for example to drop d and can switch the pedal to make it drop c and drop a. And also one other thing is you have to use the included power supply or batteries or else you get a small whine/hiss. Nothing too big though. Over all this pedal is very versatile and most likely it can do what you want it to.

.This is my third pitch-shifter, I've had the boss ps-5 and behringer US ((something) and this blows them both away for sound quality. I know it's sacrilege but I like the behriger more than the boss for sound quality, both were a little too metallic for my taste especially when compared to this guy. It's just so musical .
On this box the unique dual mode gets some great organ-esque sounds, or on the octave mode super heavy doubling.
The option for momentary switching is super handy for accenting short passages.
The latency is noticeable but pretty minimal and comparable to anything else I've tried. The tracking is great, on my 5 string bass it was able to register all the way down to that low B. Using the +- 3 octave range puts some notes out of an audible register but those note serve no practical purpose.

All in all an easy A
Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifting Guitar Effects Pedal
.very versatile, compact, great tracking, and easy to use...when you're in dual mode, i wish i could have a mix control for the pitch above and below...it's set pretty equal as it is...but since your ear picks up the higher frequencies, it tends to dominate...i'd like the ability to dial the upper back a little and bring up the lower...this is a MINOR thing to complain about...overall, this thing is excellent!...very glad i bought it...great job EHX!

.Just received this product in the mail, it works right out of the box no glitches. Its an exciting enhancement to the tone repertoire of the guitar, even though you cant really hear the lowest and highest sounds that it can produce.

Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifting Guitar Effects Pedal
.While considering the purchase of this or other pitch-shift effects, I looked for tracking specs, and frustratingly none were listed for any of them. However an opportunity presented itself to buy the Pitch Fork at a price too good to pass up (and no, it didn't "fall off the back of a truck") so I bit. Glad I did, since besides its primary intended use as a guitar effect, I wanted to try it with a bass. Lo! and Behold, the Pitch Fork will accurately track the low B on a five-string bass with no discernible latency.

This thing is going to be fun.

My only regret is that I didn't know about it before dropping a few C-notes on that hard-to-find used Dean 10-string bass. Oh well.

.Here's the simple review: I use the Pitchfork all the time. I have it dialed in so that it has a very slight octave below standard pitch. This beefs up my guitar tone like crazy. The polyphonic aspect means that I can play more than one note at a time and it won't give that warbling Moog sound like other octave pedals.

Sure, it has weird sounds and you can experiment with all the different settings. (I know I do at home!) In my live shows, I just keep a touch of low octave mixed with standard pitch and it sounds like the voice of God.

.I've only had it for a week, I've had my eye on this pedal for a while. This is great pedal. Really like the 12 string sounds. Some of the the other setting are great as well, it will get your creative juices going.
Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifting Guitar Effects Pedal
.You have to dial it to the right settings for what you need--it's easy to use for anywhere from subtle octaves or harmonies to dive bombs. Definitely use a compressor with this! I borrowed a friend's ehx soul preacher and it makes such a difference. With a compressor the octaves are distinct and sustain evenly even when using additional effects. I tossed some distortion, flange, and reverb in my chain after the compression and dive bombs using the expression pedal sounded like they were underwater explosions. Also: the blend knob is perfect for playing harmonies with yourself, just gotta pick the right pitch shift--using the major or perfect shifts is fairly painless for those who are newer players. Definitely excited about becoming even more acquainted with this pedal. There are some latency issues if you are playing super fast or using too much additional effects, whether it will be a noticeable issue for you depends on your set up and style.
Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifting Guitar Effects Pedal
.Great overall sound with good options, easy to dial in, doesn't kill your tone. Use this live in a trio to fill out some parts and get some different sounds. This can be subdued or a crazy effect all dependent on how you use it and how you set the overall mix. Semi pro player, I'm happy with it.

.I've been a fan since the very beginning. EHX has always meant quality and imagination. The momentary contact mode is an enhancement to live performance that is genius!
