Product Features

The USA-made S2 Standard 24 Electric Guitar with Ivoroid Dot Inlays comes in a dealer-exclusive finish color and features PRS zebra bobbin humbuckers. Its mahogany body and set mahogany neck give it a distinctive resonance and powerful sustain. And when mahogany's rich, round, warm tone meets S2 uncovered humbuckers, there are plenty of clear highs and strong mids to be dialed in. With a solid build and electronics platform, the S2 Standard 24 is a true player's guitar.

The S2 Standard 24 is a new approach to a timeless classic. The original PRS Standard was introduced in 1987 and evolved from Paul Smith’s pre-factory all-mahogany guitars. The S2 Standard 24 takes that classic platform and reimagines it for the modern player with a sleek satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish and pickguard-mounted electronics that handles as well and sounds as good whether its plugged straight into your amp or running through your pedal board. All at an amazing price for a USA-made guitar. Includes gig bag.

I was very excited to get my first PRS. (at GC, sorry) (I have 40 guitars and basses, most of the major brands) It looked cool and played great. But BOY, what a disappointment sound wise. At the first show I used it for the wound strings sounded like a boring muffled mess, and the high strings were blasting loud and piercing. Second gig, different venue, same thing. I thought it was me. So the next day, at home, I tried it through 3 different amps, adjusted the pickups, and realized it just didn't sound good. I've been playing guitar for over 50 years and it's the first guitar I ever felt the need to return.Too bad 'cause it played GREAT!

.I purchased an SE PRS Custom hollowbody natural guitar with the half moon cutout through Custom Guitar's Friend in early 2010, and earlier a cherry burst SE Custom slightly used through my local music store. Let me preface this by saying that I also have a Fender Stratocaster and three Schecter's, and have owned a Gibson SG in the past. I know my guitars. These PRS guitars are magnificent! The first guitar mentioned above is my all time favorite! I recently purchased the Schecter C1 Artist black guitar with Seymour Duncan pickups through MF, and it is a terrific instrument as well. I just wanted to say that these pickups from PRS, though not as hot as the Duncan's, through my Mesa Dual Rec. combo, still sound very good. It's apples and oranges folks! It depends on what you're trying to do in my opinion. For metal, active pickups work well. But for my style of music which includes classic rock, country, and easy listening I think the PRS pickups on these guitars sound great! You get the drift? Anyway, my PRS hollowbody, Korean, is my number one guitar. I lowered the action a little and it's perfect! I look at my Schecter C1 Artist and it's fancy enough to keep me from wanting much higher priced instruments. That's it, hope this helps!

.My first PRS, great quality and sound. I was surprised by the clarity of the tone, almost like I had a boost on before the preamp. The feel is smooth, like its been broken in. I like the finish, not afraid that it needs to be babied. Bottom line, solid guitar.

.The S2 standard plays, sounds, and feels fantastic. The finish is superb and the satin neck feels perfect to me. However, it was endless frustration from the day I got it. The trem was unusable. I tried adjusting the bridge, replacing the bridge, filing the nut (correctly), replacing the nut with a tusq then a PRS brand replacement, tightening tuners, lubricating everything, multiple string gauges and brands but all for nothing. The strings return sharp after trem use. As best I can tell, the S2 tuners had some play in them and would shift after using the trem and releasing the tension on the strings. It sounds like trouble with the nut but it was not. I don't know if I got unlucky with a bad one or what happened but I ended up returning it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this guitar to someone who was interested in blocking the trem, but If you're interested in using the trem there are more stable options out there. Again, maybe I just got unlucky with this one, but it was a lot of wasted hours and frustration.

.I love the sound of a electric tremolo guitar. It was good right out of the box, I put as set of power slinky's on it and adjusted the spring tension to level the bridge and WOW. Nice price for an American made guitar.
