Product Features

The PRS SE Custom 22 adds a more vintage tone and feel to the traditional Custom platform. This guitar has a pronounced mid-range and clarity that provides a sweet, full tonal base, allowing it to easily sit in the mix of your band or recording. Like its 24-fret brother, the SE Custom 22 sports a maple top with mahogany back and 25" scale length. Additional appointments include dual humbuckers with a volume, tone, and 3-way toggle switch and a PRS-designed stoptail bridge. For players who grew up on 22 frets, the SE Custom 22 is a solid choice that will take anything you throw at it. Comes with gig bag.

The Wide Fat neck has the same nut width as the Wide Thin neck, but it has a deeper profile. Because of its strength and longer "heel", the Wide Fat neck produces warm tones with lots of sustain.

This guitar is fantastic. I'm not sure what I was expecting. I figured it would be good. But, I'm astounded by it.

I bought this to be my main Jazz Guitar and I could not be happier with it. I have been playing it non stop. Aesthetically, It's beautiful. The maple veneer top looks superb and the finish is flawless. The fretwork and setup were so good right out of the box that I could have unpacked it at a gig and started playing it right away. Finally the sound of this guitar is simply universal. It will do anything.

Specific things I like are as follows: The stop tail piece is dead on. I was concerned about intonation with this style of bridge. But, no worries. Mine sets up perfectly. The "Wide/Fat" neck profile is right up my alley. It's Exactly that... Wide and Fat. This make finger style playing a joy. Lastly, the pickups are great. Their wildly different from one another which I like. The neck position is exactly what I wanted for jazz playing. The bridge pickup is really mid-range heavy and punchy. It would be right at home in country, rock , or whatever. The driven tones that you can get with the bridge pickup are literally majestic.

Please note this guitar like 9's and 10's. It came with a .009 - .042 set (I think). I immediately put on a set of flat wounds at .011 - .050 and found that the nut slots are not big enough to accommodate those. Now I have a .010 - .046 set on it and all is well.

I know this is not exactly an inexpensive guitar. But, for what I paid, I'm blown away. This is a really great value. It's extremely well made, looks great, plays like a dream, and sounds incredible. I'm not sure what else you need to play guitar.

.This is hands down the best playing and sounding guitar in this price range. I have a 2001 Gibson SG Gothic that doesn't hold a candle to the Custom 22. The craftsmanship is astounding. The finish, frets, hardware, and pickups are excellent. The Tone Furnace pickups are really great sounding, they clean up very nicely without getting muddy... and you can split the coils with the push/pull tone pot. Talk about versatility. I do have one minor complaint... the input jack and switch are not that great. I immediately had my tech install a new Switchcraft jack. The 3 way switch will be next... possibly the nut as well, we'll see. That's to be expected being an import. I still give this guitar a 5/5. Plays like butter, sounds and looks awesome!
