This is for the 2017 model (you can tell by the revised headstock)Here is the lowdown pros:
1. nicer headstock and of course has the birds (not with big CE letters).
2. nice neck but that is subjective. fast in terms of wide and flat front to back
3. bright pickups for humbuckers (import versions of 85/15), but luckily I was looking for a brighter HB
If you want the full soulful Gibson PAF type sound, its not here in this pickup.
4. comes with gigbag
5. nice setup (your results may vary)
6. due to lack of low end, this may help w/clarity when using certain effects
Cons:
1. pickups are lacking in bass. Kind of a "electric version of a Taylor acoustic"
because it is bright, not too much personality but gets the job done. Will I still love the
sound after a few months? thats the $$$ question.
2. Cheap details :knobs are a joke, so cheap. edge of fretboard was not nicely finished but no
deal breaker. Body looks like the USA coutoured in photo BUT is rather flat in reality so
it has that cheap import look if you are honest about it. Obviously PRS needs to make
this different so that people will want to eventually step up to the USA models.
3 way switch is not solid feeling, and it would be nice if the push pull were replaced with
a much more useable mini toggle switch but it is what it is. What else, the Input jack
is actully better than average for import.
Wish it came in gloss black, who knows, maybe in future.
PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar Whale Blue
.I bought the Custom SE in the Trampas green finish from a local music store in the town I live in. The custom SE is the best deal going for a Korean made guitar. It has the wide-thin neck profile which I love and the best part is they "rolled" the edges of the fret-board,so it already has that broke in feeling like my other PRS that's 19 years old. The finish is almost perfect there's just one run in the clear coat along the edge of the fret-board, hardly noticeable. Plays almost as good as my American made PRS CE model. It has just the right amount of weight to it, not insanely heavy but not feather light either. The only thing I don't like about this guitar is the stock bridge pickup, in fact I almost took the guitar back because of it. It just didn't sound right when I plugged it into my Engl amp so I had a Dimarzio Evolution pickup laying around and I thought, what the heck I'll give it a shot, so I slapped it in there and bam! now it sounds like it should! Just can't beat this guitar for the price. If you can't afford the American made model, this is the next best thing, you might even like the stock pickups they just didn't sound right to my ear and the only reason I gave this guitar 4 stars.
