Product Features

The Herco nylon pick was the top choice of guitar players when guitar-driven music began its meteoric rise in the mid-1960s. Dunlop is bringing back that pick's classic tone and feel with the Herco Vintage '66 Series.

Digging deep into Dunlop's vault, they carefully analyzed their collection of original Herco molds and picks from the 1960s. This helped them create the Herco Vintage ™66 Series to such exacting specification that even their own pick experts were at a loss to tell them apart from the originals.

These picks come in silver. Pack of 6.

Ordered these up to try out. I was intrigued by the idea of all the legendary players that used these picks back in the 60's and 70's. I play standard nylon .88mm usually and the heavy herco picks while slightly thicker, felt comfortable to use. Their is a slight tonal difference between the standard nylon dunlops and these. This is more noticeable when playing clean electric or acoustic. Notes have a more rounded sound with a slightly brighter attack. I guess it is also a little inspiring to know a lot of great guitarists used these picks. While they won't completely replace my nylons that I use currently, I will be using these more frequently to harness the classic rock vibe these put out.

.The 'regular' silver Hercos' are frequently gauged at .96 or .97, these are thinner-I'm guessing somewhere between .80 and .85. One of the things I love about the regular silver Hercos' is the raspy quality they bring, these 'vintage' 66 ones don't have as much of that. They're still good picks but I'm going to stick with the regulars.
