I agree with the other reviewer. WE NEED THESE IN THE 346 SHAPE!To some, this may seem expensive for a simple guitar pick, and I agree it is. However, when compared to Wegan picks, they are a bargain. Still, I had to reduce the value rating a bit for the exorbitant price. But having used these, I would pay for more if they just made them in the original 346 shape... not that pointy acute triangle, but the original rounded triangle with nice smooth points and edges!Bring it on!

.Rigid picks are the way to go to get the most tone from your instrument with the least amount of exhertion.

After gypsy picking with these for some time, they started to wear down a bit and one become jagged, but I really was pushing the picks and digging into the strings. I suspect the material used is just a bit to soft for the most aggressive picking situations. It is not especially soft material, but I think that Wegen's picks are particularly strong and better suited to abuse.

That said, these are just great for learning to do gypsy picking, or just general playing, and give a great sound. I use the large round tip.

I eventually got a Wegen and it really is more durable, but I keep these in the case for backup, recommend them to everybody, including my students. The wegen is just a bit brighter than this pick to my ear.

BTW, I think 5mm is overkill! Go for this 3mm size.

.Before this pick I was using the Jazztone 204 for the past 15 years. I thought that pick had no resistance to the strings and relaxed my arm, etc. However, this pick, specifically the 304 shape, has those qualities to an even greater degree. I feel that this pick has almost no resistance to the string. It has definitely had a positive impact on my playing (changed my life). All the notes are even with no notes "jumping out" inadvertently. Also the lack of resistance really helps me stay relaxed on the gig. I feel that this pick allows my ideas to flow naturally without hindrance from any physical considerations of the pick. As to the price, have you priced boutique picks? This is better than many boutique picks and, in comparison, a bargain! Seemingly this pick is similar in design to a Wegen, but Wegen doesn't make one in this shape and size. Enjoy!

.These Primetone picks produce a full warm sound, perfect for vocal accompaniment. However, the picks are slippery. As a result, they fall out of my grip from time to time. I used sandpaper to roughen the surface, there are other ways to do this too. It seems to me that these picks are a decent attempt at competing with the more expensive Wegen picks. Decent is the operative word. To me, Wegen picks are a measurably better product.

.I'm new to Gypsy Picking ala Django Rheinhardt, and bought the Primetone 3.0mm large, round tip as an alternative to the much more expensive picks generally used by gypsy pickers. These picks help give me the sound I'm looking for on my Gitane guitar, and I find I'm using them for rock and country as they are so fast and efficient.

.I recently purchased a massive quantity of picks so that I can form a valid opinion on what I prefer. I ordered Wegen's "Twin" and "Gypsy Jazz" picks for acoustic playing, and found them to be literally the best picks ever for acoustic playing! The twin is the same as the Gypsy Jazz, but it's a bit smaller. Dunlop has made a cheapo version of the Wegen - the "Primetone" 3mm and 5mm. The Large, round option seemed closest to the Gypsy Jazz, so I ordered a 3 pack.

The Wegen Gypsy Jazz was 18 bukks, delivered :(

I just modified the Dunlop Primetone Large round tip to have similar attributes to the Wegen. I sanded it first using 220 to take away the sharp taper on the top and sides, then bevel the tip. I also scuffed the face of the pick for grip. Then I switched to 400 grit emery to take the scratches out, then I switched to 400 clover compound on an old t-shirt, then 1000 clover on the same old shirt.

The whole operation took about 10 minutes, and it is REALLY close to a Wegen now! This will save my precious Wegens from heavy practicing. The "Wegenized" Dunlop sounds really good too as it's less "clicky".

For this reason, I think these are totally awesome!

I am a rock guitarist that has roots in jazz. I have countless types of jazz picks. I collect picks. I use the large pointed currently. I had the small ones but I would loose half of my index finger nail. I love the warm tone you get with these. They give a unique chirp as you pick over the string. The only downer was at first I would put my thumb in the dented grip side and my thumb would get soar. So I started putting my index finger in the dented side. It was a lot more comfortable. Pick scrapes are horrible on these picks. It leaves huge notches along the edge.

.Very low friction, good for shredding. Also good for strumming chords on acoustic guitars. But because of its low friction it is a little tricky to hold on to when strumming, despite the 3mm thickness.
