Over fifty years of playing acoustic and electric guitars with thumbnails I've tried them all. Used nationals for years, dobro and the Dunlop equivalent clear plastic, herco blue, and for the last ten years, golden gate pearloid. The nationals quality control turned to garbage years ago and hasn't come back, herco blue was like knocking with a Clorox bottle, the clear ones required a certain amount of filing to get the right striking angle and distance, and golden gate cost way to much. These ultex picks are the answer! Fit perfectly, they're durable but crisp, just the right angle, like the old nationals I still have one or two of, and the colour is real cool looking. .Although apparently well made and constructed, the extentiion tip is shorter than all of the previous thumb picks I have used in the past. It will take my getting some familiarity and feeling comfortable with it but I am hoping that will come with constant usage. The sound quality seems excellent as well as its durability. I will practice with it for quite some time before using it for a performance.

.I was under the impression these were a "set" of picks for fingers and thumbs. Also believed them to be metal picks. WRONG on both counts.

.Ultex has been a favorite of mine for flatpicking. Glad it's now available for fingerpicking, as well.
My guitar has never sounded better than when using these thumbpicks.

.I like finger picking but never used a thumb-pick. I ordered both the Large and Medium size. Both sizes fit pretty much the same, the Medium just a little tighter. The main difference is the Large size has about 1/2 inch long pick and the Medium has 3/8 inch long pick. I prefer the Medium since I already been finger picking for years without a thumb-pick. I'm guessing the Small size has even a little tighter fit with about 1/4 inch long pick. I'll order a pack and find out.
