Product Features

Create incredibly smooth volume swells or control your effect pedal parameters with the Dunlop DVP3 Volume X. Small and pedal board-friendly, the DVP3 is solidly-built and ready for the road. It's housed in an aluminum chassis with aggressive non-slip tread and comes equipped with our patent-pending Band Drive for a smooth range of motion without the fear of breakage or change in feel or range. For maximum comfort and precision, the DVP3's rocker tension is fully adjustable.

When using the DVP3 as an expression pedal, you can use the internal pot to set the minimum level of the parameter you're controlling with the rocker. If you want to reverse the function of the heel-down and toe-down positions, the DVP3 has an internal switch that allows you to do so.

Along with Volume, FX and Output jacks, the DVP3 also features a convenient Tuner output for silent tuning onstage.

I use a volume pedal quite a bit for swells and cleaning up the distortion at times. I owned an Ernie Ball volume but the string broke over time (about 3 yrs) and didn't want to keep changing the string, so I decided to try the volume X. Little did I know that there is a very thin aluminum band that broke after only 8 months. Glad it happened at home and not during a gig. The sound quality is good, and can also be used as an expression pedal but from my experience it's less reliable than the Ernie Ball. After doing some research, I just ordered the Morley Little Alligator. Haven't tried it yet, but from the youtube vids and reading the reviews it seems to be very reliable and easy to adjust your needs. Hopefully 3rd times a charm!

.If you want a volume pedal perfect for violin like volume swell effects that is compact enough for a modest pedal board and a design that is solid as a rock, look no further. This pedal is very smooth and easy to get a feel for after a little playing around with. The expression option is a really nice bonus. I've owned 2 other volume pedals prior to this but I don't think I'll ever need a new one again. This thing is so much fun and the design seems basically dummy proof. IMO It's at a great price too.

.In need of a new Volume Pedal I had purchased Dunlop's DVP-1 about 1 year ago, but while I loved the top-knotch build quality, adjustable tension, Steel-Band Drive (compared to other Volume Pedal usage of STRING and other non-hardened material) and Aluminium Casing... it's overall size (and to a lesser degree, weight) was too large for my Pedalboard no matter how I shifted effects around to try and make room for it. And so it sat in its box while I continued to use my old-school Dunlop GCB-80 Volume Pedal that over the gigging years had done well but was showing its age...

Until I received notice that Dunlop had released the DVP3(X), a new, smaller footprint & lighter weight version of the DVP-1 while adding the ability to function as an Expression Pedal for so-equipped Effects and gear. Trying one out it person, it had the same Steel-Band Drive and heavy duty casing, Adjustable Tension and overall "feel" underfoot that had drawn me to its "Bigger Brother". As I hadn't used my original DVP-1 for even practices Custom Guitar's Friend was kind enough to take it as a return/exchange for the DVP3(X), which made the "upgrade" to the DVP3 an extremely minimal amount.

The only "negative" issue I could find is that the DVP3 comes in an all-black finish, while the DVP-1 has a "Natural Aluminium Silver" - it would be nice to offer either pedal in both colors. But that's an extremely minor issue. I imagine it will be a long time until I need to upgrade my Volume Pedal again, but I *am* considering another DVP3(X) set up in its "Expression Pedal" mode to use with my SWR Mini Mo' Preamp for manual control of the Filter Sweep setting on its Envelope Filter. A fantastic pedal at a killer price considering all of its features.

.When I first discovered this combination volume/expression pedal, I was elated. Then I got it home, only to realize I had taken it completely for granted that the universe could not contain a company so inept as to design a volume/expression pedal that a user would have to get down on the floor and reroute the guitar signal in order to switch from one (volume) to the other (expression).

Seriously, Dunlop?

I've been aquainted with this company's products for the past fifty years (yeah, I've got some mileage) and they have just taken top place in the Worthless Effort category, as far as I'm concerned.

Keep looking around until you find a company intelligent enough to make a pedal like this that's switchable.

.Really like using this pedal works great use it on some Jeff Beck stuff, just takes a couple of times to get use to it

.Bought this pedal for the size. It fits well on tight pedal boards. I did not like the range of volume change and the metal band design created a loud squeak every time you used the pedal. WD40 did not help.

.I've owned this product for about a year now, and to say the least, it doesn't leave my board. I've noticed it works much like an actual volume knob on my guitar, so I run it after my drive pedals but before my preamp. This thing is great, you can tighten and loosen the action with a butter knife. It can control the blend on a few of my delay pedals. Also, since it's passive, I thankfully don't have to worry about a 9v. LoL. All in all, I highly recommend this pedal to anybody who needs a volume that's the exact size of a standard wah. Looks and works great!!
