There's no way you can go wrong with a GCB-80. This pedal can handle all the gain you can give it and total control of volume at your feet without compromising your tone.No frills plug and play volume pedal. Line in, line out that's about as easy as it gets.
I could tie a rope to this thing and use it as a boat anchor or wedge it behind my tire to keep it from rolling down the hill. This thing is solid as your aunt Bertha. The rocker platform is very smooth and responsive
Can't beat the price range. A real bargain for an original Dunlop product that will be around for a long time. I happened to get it for less so all the better.

.I never needed or understood volume pedals until I started playing at a church regularly -- ambient guitar swells and/or whale sounds are essential in that arena. To be honest, I went straight to this one mostly because my pedal board already has a Crybaby, and since this pedal's body is literally the same, I knew it would fit into my crowded setup, unlike most of these other behemoths. I also like the brick-like solidity of this Dunlop one, and that it features no weird little bits of string in its ingredients (I'm sure the Ernie Ball, etc. are great, there is just something that rubs me the wrong way about a piece of electronics that relies on an actual, honest-to-goodness piece of twine).
My experience with it so far has been great. It's as sturdy as the Crybaby, and has a broader sweep of motion, enabling me to use a certain amount of subtlety in my fade-ins. Other reviewers have mentioned that sometimes this pedal's "off position" isnt' absolute zero -- mine isn't doing that, so maybe it varies. I know there is a hack for fixing that, but I didn't seem to need it.
I can't say I've road-tested it extensively yet but my impression is that this is a simple, no-frills volume pedal that works perfectly for what I need, and looks like it would survive a ten-story drop.

.I wish I had bought this first. I'm always fiddling with settings on some pedal and trying to balance the best tone with the volume etc. now I just crank everything up to where they shine the best and use the volume pedal to keep it where I want. I can really drive my tube screamer and still practice at night. I realize you can turn the amp down, but this is so much easier, plus I don't have to juggle volumes for different channels on the amp. I set everything everywhere to 10 and let this pedal do the rest. magic. I have had this for about a week now and thought I'd give some feedback. one good (or neutral) thing is that this pedal is passive. it doesn't require a battery or power plug. I'm already thinking about selling it though, not because it isn't a good pedal, but I bought it so I could easy crank down late at night to practice, and this pedal does a great job of adjusting between 50% and 100% of volume, but not much at all between 0% and 50%. if the pedal moves 1", then all the way down on the pedal = 10% volume (can't get to zero) and 1/8" = 25% volume, from there it adjusts nicely, but I was hoping for more control over "off" and "whisper" to "quiet" rather than just "loud".

it makes loud things quiet when you want to. yeah, that's all of the features.

.First of all, to set things straight: It's called "High Gain" because it can handle high gain signals quietly...Also, I give this 5 for features because it does what it's supposed to do effectively and quietlyI give it 5 for quality because, like all Dunlop pedals, the thing is a TANK and will take a beatingLastly, I give it 5 for value because it's cheaper than most of the other volume pedals out there, and (in my opinion) outperforms them.

.This is the perfect volume pedal for live, very responsive, no power required, clean asallgetout. No bleed through at all when in the "up" position and absolutely no tone sucking that I can hear. And best of all, low real estate on the pedalboard. Some of the other volume pedals out there are huge.

.This is the first volume pedal I have used and it works great. I have had it for five months now using it quite frequently and have had no problems. I run it through my JCM900 half stack and it is great for going from distorted to clean without having to mess with the gain control on my amp (single channel amp). HINT: If you don?t want to change level of distortion, then simply put the pedal after your distortion stage.The pedal is extremely solid and feels like it could take a lot of abuse. The operation of the pedal is smooth and its volume control is consistent making it great for volume swells. Another pro is how there is no tone cut. The only other thing I could see people wanting is a tuner out. I recommend keeping it wrapped in its plastic bag when not using it. I have read that some people have ended up with a scratchy pot in just a few months (not just with this pedal).

.This pedal is great. It outperforms my Morley Volume pedal, hands down. It gives you great control over volume, something that the Morley lacks. Operation is quiet and controllable.
