While I love my Custom Z alto, it is perhaps almost too free blowing (also a function of my mouthpiece - a Runyon Custom 6), the V1 unlacquered neck tames it a bit and provides more warmth and tonal complexity with soft tones, and still with plenty of power. .Just got the neck today. Put it on my older YA 62 and instantly added another saxophone to my arsenal. I have the gold plated one which is an amazing neck. It is warm and jazz club like in the lower register. The altissimo sparkles with incredible volume and cleanliness of sound. With the original neck I was playing double high "D"s with some effort. Not only are the "D"s played with power I have been able to play double hi "E"s, "Eb"s, and "F"'s albeit with not as much projection on the "F"s. Using a Jumbo Jazz mouthpiece, Harrison style ligature, and Fibracell 4.5 reeds. I also use Hemke 3.5 in the bamboo reed.
