Hollowbody guitars are typically lighter and more resonant than their solid body counter parts. This gives a somewhat mellower tone to the guitar making it well-suited to play jazz, blues or rock. The USM-HB35 features a double cutaway and includes a solid maple block in the center, increasing sustain and reducing susceptibility to feedback in high volume situations. Deluxe features include flame maple top, gold hardware, split block inlays and Grover 18:1 tuners. Includes case.
As the name suggests, the USM-HB35 comes with Duncan USM pickups, the result of a collaboration between U.S. Music Corp. and Seymour Duncan. The two companies have worked together for many years and have shared many artists along the way, including Nuno Bettencourt, Dimebag Darrell, Paul Stanley, George Lynch, Scott Ian, Warren Haynes, and many more.
Designed by Seymour Duncan's Santa Barbara-based engineers to USM's requirements, Duncan USM pickups are available in two voices, the HB-103 and HB-102. The HB-103 is a high-output humbucker aimed at heavy rock, metal, thrash and punk players. It's an extremely aggressive pickup with powerful coil windings ceramic magnets, but it will maintain string-to-string clarity even under the punishing picking assault heavy music players subject their guitars to gig after gig. The HB-102 is a classic, hot-rodded humbucker set that handles a wide range of styles from blues and classic rock to metal. The HB-102 bridge pickup has high-output coil windings and the neck pickup is backed off a bit. Both pickups use Alnico 5 magnets and are very musical with great high-end detail. The USM-HB35 gives you two volume controls, two tone controls and a 3-way pickup switch so you can get the sound you really want.

I am 32 yrs old and have been playing for 19-20 years. I have owned many guitars both high and low end. I have 9 guitars now. This is hands down the best guitar I have ever had and I have a Les Paul and an SG. The action is incredible. .I've had my HB35 for several weeks now. I got the natural finish. I purchased it to replace an epiphone Riviera ltd that I was dis-satisfied with because the neck felt hollow and the tone was not what I was looking for (too warm). the color of the "natural" HB35 is somewhere in-between natural and butterscotch (at least on mine). I was hoping for a natural finish more like the the epiphone John Lennon Casino. I took the pick guard off. looks better that way in my opinion. also, the finish is more of a gloss rather than flat. didn't care for the quality of the binding around the f-holes -- a very cheap plasticized look. now, putting aside the negatives. there is still an elegance about this guitar, especially with the pick guard removed. the neck is solid, comfortable and plays well. the action is pretty good out of the box, but could be lowered just a bit. the case is of good quality. the tonal range is exactly what I was hoping for. the combination of maple top/sides, maple neck and rosewood fret board with Duncan USM pickups allows the guitar to have a broad tonal range. It can do a clean, bright sound (which my Riviera could not do), a warm resonant sound and pretty much everything in-between. the sustain is considerably better than I was expecting. standard arrangement of speed knobs -- 2 vol/2 tone, though I must admit that with the pick-up selector in the middle position, blending the two pick-ups seems to work unusually well on this guitar. This is my third hollow/semi-hollow guitar purchase (epi Riviera, epi Swingster). It is by far my favorite of the three.

The HB-35 is a well constructed great looking guitar. It had some flaws right out of the box, However I chose to work around them rather than send it back. The rear tone pot was bad from the factory and there is a little blem on the headstock that most people would miss. Custom Guitars Friend did however compensate me for these items so how can you go wrong with that kind of service. After a new set of strings of my flavor, a set up to my preferences and a tone pot replacement the instrument plays as well as any out there.I LOVE HB-35s and for the money invested it is a great guitar.

.I own over 25 guitars including many very high end models but I never had a semi-hollow. I wasn't ready to take the plunge for a 335 and I didn't really like the Dot, but I had a chance to play one of these and was shocked by the terrific action and great sounding Duncan designed pickups, so I decided to take a chance and order the Natural finish. It arrived almost exactly like the one I had tried - perfect action, wonderful full C shaped neck, great electronics for the price. The top was much more flamey than the model pictured on the website but it was very pretty. I certainly would play this guitar out, but I should note that it is easier to play sitting down, as the neck is a bit heavier than the body of the guitar and tends to dive if you don't hold it up when standing. That's certainly not a deal breaker though as most SGs share this trait.
This one is a keeper!

.what a bargain. I am definitely on a budget and can't afford a super high end guitar. Went for the hb 35 for its great looks and it was under the maximum I was willing to spend. Had it for about 2 yrs, and I love playing it. The only change I had to make was new strings. Good action and great playability. Put some skull knobs on it for extra bling. People always think it cost way more than it did, they can't believe it was so little money. Sounds sweet though my tube amp sounds equally as sweet through my much less expensive fender solid state amp. Can't say much more about it that hasn't already been said by other customers.

.I have owned the USM-HB35 for several years now. It is one fine playing guitar. Great for any style of playing. I did some appearance customizing on it as shown in the photo. The strings I use are 9-46's as I mainly play blues. The USM-HB35 compares very well with the Gibson 335, but the Washburn has nicer looking multi-binding trim.

Guitar arrived in great condition! Picked up on level 3 discount. Only problem I can see is hard case has a cut in the bottom portion. No big deal. I am happy to even get a case at this price point. Custom Guitars friend sent me info before purchase so I knew what to expect. Guitar looks great and has every upgrade feature you could want. Binding, inlays, gold hardware ect. I have numerous guitars in my collection from gibson,fender,ibanez,Epiphone and vox. This guitar is playable for sure,neck feels great and pickups sound good. Usually I prefer to play p90 equipped guitars but these humbucker's sound good. I will be keeping this one for sure. Set up out of box is playable with minimal buzz on low e only. Usually I expect to go to luthier for a set up with all guitars. Every now and then I get something I can play with no extra work,but not often.
