So, as I strolled into my local music store, a Fender/Jackson rep was hanging out with the guys. We started talking about amps, guitars, rigs, blah blah. So I asked him about Jacksons 7 string lineup and if there would be anything cheaper than the 399.00 model, as a question and he brought it out from the back and handed it to me. I was seriously intrigued at first glance. Of course, its elegant looking, and very lightweight. I plugged it in to my rig, hotrod deluxe III, Ds2, and WOW, I was shocked and incredibly impressed at first powerchord. Let me say, if you are someone looking to buy a cheap 7 for the first time, like I was, this one is a great way to start yet another unhealthy guitar addiction, as I already have 3 Les Pauls, a custom Warmoth, I've had strats, teles, and played a hand full of other 7s. Trust me when I say, this is the best 7 string for under 800 I've found. This will be a purchase you wont regret, I know that I wont.

.This jackson seven string is pretty amazing for the money , the neck is a little on the fat side but its super comfy , the only complain i have is the pick ups i mean there still decent , but still i little on the cheap side but other than that this thing is completely amazing , holds tune very well drop tunes are even great . Definetly alot better that the ibanez grg7221 hands down , if youve been looking for i decnet 7 string for not that much money here it is!!

.This thing was awesome right out of the box!!! All I had to do was tune it!!! And the Pic. does this guitar NO justice... This is a really good looking guitar, It has a flat Gothic stealth look to it... Best Guitar by far in it's price range!!!

.I bought it for my son. He is keen to try a 7 string. The neck was straight, but the frets not so much and the nut was cut way too low. Choosing between an exchange that would obviously last some serious time and giving my son the gift in time, I went with my tech suggestion (he offered and did fill in the nut slots). The tech replaced the strings for 10-62. It still has buzz, but since I filled in the nut I do not think I can exchange it.
On another hand the sound and other guitar feats are ok for this low price.

.Pickups are complete garbage. Both were unpotted and squealed something awfull.

I wore the black finish off the bridge in about 30 minutes of playing. The pots and wiring were also terrible.

The neck was straight, and the switches worked. The nut looked like it was cut by a 12 year old child. Complete hack job.

Its a good base to start, but don't expect much from the get go. I spent 200 on new pickups and wiring. It now sounds and plays extremely well now.

I would also like to mention, I contacted Jackson about the pickups. They told me I had to ship the guitar (I pay shipping) to a service center for them to inspect them. I told them I pulled the pickups, so I could just ship those. They stated since I removed the pickups, it voided the entire warranty of the guitar. Wow. After this purchase, I wont buy Jackson again. Regardless of price. Customer service should have been better than that.

.This is a great buy if you're new to 7 strings like I am. Nothing too special about the looks, though. Just a super strat w/ a satin finish. Now, the neck feels amazing! If you watched the video in the description it's all true. Great for riffing and playing chords with ease towards the head stock and middle of the fret board and all shred past the 12th fret, which is great for technical/progressive metal. IMO The body feels great compared to a gloss finished body, so satin is the way to go if you want a really smooth surface. It takes a while getting used to the extra string, but after I officially buy this I will be playing it every day! By the way, make sure to buy a good set of strings to go along with this (I suggest D'Addario's) and make sure you get the right gauge, so if I were you (personally speaking to metal heads like myself) I'd take Misha Mansoors approach to stringing 7's. Buy your standard gauge for metal (11-50/12-52) and buy a .62/.64 bass string or just a regular guitar string and you should get that heavy sound you're looking for right away, because this Jackson came loaded with .9-.49 (B being the .49) which are too small for a 7 string making playing on the B a little too hard. (IT GETS FLOPPY!)

.I bought this guitar at a local shop after being back ordered for about a month on here. Needless to say, I'm very glad I bought it as soon as I did. For the price, Jackson did not let me down. The stock pick ups sound good for metal, and the cleans are alright as well. Like I said, for the price, it's a wonderful guitar. Personally, the only thing I'd change are the pick-ups. Tuning wise, it's very stable, atleast, mine is. Some people have bad luck and get a poorly crafted guitar. But if you're lucky enough to get this one well built, you definitely will not be disappointed! For my first 7 string, it's an amazing one. The neck feels wonderful, not too wide, nor too narrow. It's very easy to solo on, and rip out some awesome beefy riffs. If you want a seven string fast, but aren't looking to cough up half a grand, look no further. If you're a rookie, and want a 7 string, look no further. BUY IT!

.It's the first 7-String I've ever bought, and boy does it have a lot of problems.

The tuners have a horrific time staying in tune (Which I guess for a 200 do11ar guitar its to be expected, but it's still annoying. I've had toy guitars with better tuners.)

The Saddle height adjusters constantly slip from the vibration. I have to adjust them at least 4 times a week.

The fret buzz... Oh god the fret buzz. I've tried the heaviest strings I could find, and it's still bad. The action on this guitar was screwed from the beginning. ( I'm probably going to get the whole guitar redone, from hardware to finish.)

One of the pickups was lowered pretty much as low as it could go. Easy enough to fix sure, but really?

I'm sure that I got one of the guitars that must've slipped past the QM department. So I don't really know what this guitar would be like without all of the problems it has. It's fun to play on, though I stay away from plugging it in to my amp.

.I picked up this guitar to see what Jackson had to offer in terms of an extended range guitar with the intentions of purchasing one of the higher end models if I was impressed. Boy, did it deliver! Right out of the box it was almost perfectly set up, after 10 minutes of tweaking to my liking this thing was killing it. I decided instead of shelling out hundreds to replace this gnarly piece, just to swap out the pickups.(Noting that the stock pickups are very solid for a guitar of this price though.) After throwing it some DiMarzios she was growling. The neck profile is very thin, but still round enough to have a natural feel. The only bad thing I can say about this guitar is that the tuners aren't the greatest so I would advise swapping them out for something a little better. That being said, this is hands down THE best 7-string you can get at this price. I will be sticking with Jackson for my extended range guitars for a long time after this.

.First of all, the pictured guitar is like a prototype or something, the real product looks better, has arched top an the pick up switch is lower than the knobs, just google the model an you'll see.

this is my opinion of this guitar:

Tuners and the bridge are ok, the guitar stays in tune perfectly, electronics do the job, the fretboard doesnt have any sharp edges, mate finish is very nice but may be easy to scratch, pick ups are not terrible, body is not too heavy or too light(feels solid), just change the strings inmediately and you're good to go.

Sure, the JS22-7 is cheap but what?, that makes it even better because you can always upgrade as you feel and even changing everything it wont be a lot of cash, anyway you'll find yourself changing pick ups on pretty much any guitar regardless of its price.

Overall, I am very pleased, recommended this instrument for begginers or adventurous players who want to try extended range guitars without breaking the bank, go for it!

NOTE: Just for the curious the Ibanez GRG7221 wich is the inmediate contender in price tag and market fell short in construction and feel(too light and feels very fragile), just personal taste anyway, you may like lightweight guitars, no problem.

Good luck!
