Product Features

If you're still looking for your sound, you'll find it with the Jackson RR1 Randy Rhoads Select Series Electric Guitar. The young master metal shredder never lived to see the mass production of this guitar, but he helped design and approved the prototype. Equipped with screamin' Seymour Duncan open humbuckers (an SH2 at the neck and TB4 at the bridge) and an original Floyd Rose Original double-locking tremolo, this guitar is designed specifically for the kind of sonic pyrotechnics its inimitable namesake made famous. Jackson's famous sharkfin mother-of-pearl inlays adorn a bound compound radius ebony fretboard mounted on a lightning-fast quartersawn maple neck that runs right through the sculpted alder body. Mother-of-pearl Jackson logo adds a touch of class to the bound headstock.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better! Includes case.

I was never the type of player who gravitated towards "metal" guitars, with all of their funny, pointy shapes, and super hot pickups. Les Pauls were good enough for me.

I was wrong.

After doing a lot of research online, and playing a cheaper model at a local store, I decided to spring for the real deal, the RR1 (in snow white) and I think it's just about the best guitar I've ever played, and I've owned and played A LOT.

I'm not a speed player. I want to be, don't get me wrong, but speed isn't my thing. I can do some Gilmour and some Jimmy Page and even Johnny Marr, but Randy Rhoads: I'm not...but this guitar certainly helps. I've never played a guitar that has singlehandedly improved my playing without me having to change my technique at all. This guitar was designed by people who know guitars and what players want. The notes just glide right off the finger tips without much effort. I have .09s on mine, with my action set as low as can be, and I can bust out "Blackened" and "Ride The Lightning" with no problem. Sure the body shape is a little bit awkward and unintuitive, but it's honestly a comfortable guitar (I have the V over top of my right leg and it's very comfortable...more so than a Gibson V). I believe these are jumbo frets and the neck is a compound radius. It feels a little bit different than the el cheapo Jacksons, and in a good way.

The sound on this guitar is really just as impressive as the amazing fit and feel. The TB4 is as hot and as punchy as you'd expect. Whatever gain I want to throw its way, it's glad to handle. I was worried that I would have to use EMGs to get my sound, but these Duncans do the trick. The SH2 is another pleasant surprise, as well. Despite being a "jazz" pickup, it's another gain-loving monster. Cleaned up, the SH2 is the star of the show. The beautiful, balanced mellow tones are killer. With gain, you can even get a Guns N Roses tone pretty well out of the neck pickup. The clarity on both of these pickups is outstanding. When playing a song like Megadeth's "Holy Wars..." with fast picking, the individual notes come out much, much better than in my Gibson with the hot ceramic pickups. I think I'm going to keep this totally stock and use my money to put the EMGs in my Gibson instead.

The only knock on this guitar isn't really about the guitar itself, but the Floyd Rose system. I gravitate towards "difficult" guitars. I love Jazzmasters and Gretsches, but I've never owned a legit Floyd Rose. Getting this set up was a chore, but after a new set of strings and a lot of little tweaks and adjustments, I think it would hold tune after the apocalypse. I'm digging the Floyd Rose, I just wish that it weren't so finicky and touchy. So, maybe it's not a knock, per se, but if this is your first guitar with a Floyd Rose, don't be discouraged if it takes a while to get the hang of the set up.

I'm a believer in Jackson Guitars and I might even spring for a Soloist when it's
time to look at guitars again. The USA models are top notch and are great for metal, but can definitely handle alternative and classic rock just as well.

.Not going to muddy this up with a bunch of useless points that have been gone over and copy/pasted from pro reviews.
Here it is in a nutshell from someone who has actually played a USA Rhoads for the last 7 years.
It's the NECK, that's the selling point of this guitar, it is simply the BEST neck on the market. The only thing that has ever came in the ballpark of the quality of this guitar is a PRS. I own Ibanez Prestige, USA Fender, LP Standards, Custom Shop BC Rich, too many to list. But this my friend, and I'm being 100% honest with you, is the finest neck on the market today, period. It is a dream come true for players with smaller hands, no more struggling to wrap my hand around a "baseball bat" shaped neck great job Jackson !!

I use this in my band when I play lead (we have three guitarists, I usually play rhythm because I sing, too), and I love the quality. If my Jackson custom is in the shop, I'll play this. It's a great guitar all around, a little pricey, but that's what you pay for quality. For rhythm, the pickups get nice low end, for lead, the Tremolo comes in handy.

.I got a RR3 8 months ago, loved it so much that I decided to go for the real deal. I got mine a week ago, its a Cobalt Blue one. What Id like to mention is that the case isnt as heavy as I had expected. It sure is big, but just a little wider than my Gibson Explorers hardcase. The explorers easily twice as heavy. And the RR1 is also bigger than expected, im a big fat guy, 6 3, or 1,88 cm, as big as James Hetfield. I was concerned it might be too small for me, but it isnt, in case you worry about that too. Looks awesome, feels expensive, definitely not the last USA made Jackson guitar ill buy.

.I bought my RR1LH (LH for left handed, unfortunately not available here yet, but I tried here first guys!) in May 2010 and out of the dozens of guitars that I have owned and played since 1978, this is hands down the absolute best. I have owned top of the line Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, Kramer, BC Rich, and many others and now I want for none of them. This is the first guitar that actually sounds the way you dream of right from the start. The neck-through design, the shorter fin for the treble strings, the thin neck, the Seymour Duncan pickups, and original Floyd Rose all combine to make this an elite guitar the way Randy Rhoades intended when he designed it.Don't let your guitar hold YOU back. Do whatever you have to and get one of these.

.I have owned my Jackson for about ten years now. In that ten years, it has spent probably about eight in its case. Not because it sucks, but because it?s just not practical. I am not going to bore you with a run down of all the gear I own just to brag about my gear, but know that this is not my only high end guitar. Each guitar is great for its own reasons, but this thing is a monster. I have never played a neck like the one on this thing. Let me tell you, it plays itself. The RR1 plays great, it sounds great, and it just feels great. One thing it doesn?t do well is sit on a strap great, and it doesn?t work well on a small stage. I can?t get used to dragging around the extra large case and worrying about what I am going to bump in to while playing. My perfect guitar will be a soloist. It has all the features with a more practical build. Now if I can only get one for less than a million bucks, I?ll be good.

.For me a USA Jackson is as good as it gets. Amazing build quality, extremely fast neck, great action. Perfect for my playing style metal/shred/hardcore. Also handle's drop tuning's extremely well. I play in drop c alot and have no problems adjusting the floyd rose. I've tried Esp's, schecters, USA dean's and IMO the Usa jackson's are as good as it gets and a deal at $1999. If your a metal player you will love this guitar. Really no negatives!

.My best guitars are all Jacksons, have the RR-USA, and two USA Soloists. Next up is a USA King V and a USA Kelly.I love my RR, except that the volume pot is too close to the area where I usually pick and sometimes when doing high speed runs I hit it with my hand and it turns the volume down. I end up having to play in a less comfortable position more between the pups instead of on top of the bridge pup. Also wish it had 24 frets. Otherwise its an awesome axe, typical Jackson quality=over the top!!

.This is a very, very high quality guitar. The only reason I gave it 9 stars for quality is because of the Seamore Duncans. I've replaced the pickups with emg 81 and 85, sustains for days. If you have the money and you don't mind the shape of the guitar, this is the best guitar (in my opinion) you can get.Note: The neck is very thick, not for small hands.

.I have had this guitar for 2 1/2 3 years i bought it used mine is from the late 80s early 90s after i did the set up i changed out the neck volume to a push pull to coil tap now i get every thing from srv to the most extreme metal iv ben playing for 19 years and have had some pretty nice guitars including a hand made custom and the RR1 is just as good as thees other guitars ( that are way to high for the quality ) in a word the RR1 is OUTSTSNDING
