I use this product to play out 2-3 times per month Praise and Worship at my church. It is extremely easy to use and I've never once looked at the manual. I was a little hesitant at first that it only has a 1 line display on the actual device itself, but I've now become spoiled by doing all my editing of patches from my iDevice or Tablet. Editing is extremely easy and saving patches is also a breeze. One enormous benefit of this device is the "tone cloud" save ability. For the traveling musician, you can borrow someone else's Firehawk FX and as long as you have your iPhone or Tablet with you and connected to the internet, you can download and use all of your own patches, just like you had your own Firehawk there. The only thing I can see that is missing from the Firehawk is the dual signal path option that the POD HD500X offers (as does the new Helix). However, I don't really miss it. I can setup multiple banks of patches to specific songs and then easily download them into and out of the device at any time. It works great with both acoustic instruments and electric.
If it broke, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. I bought this to replace a Zoom G5. To me, there is no comparison regarding the sound quality between the two. I have not regretted my purchase one time. I can't wait to try it with a Variax sometime in the future.

.I started using a PODxt LIVE and Variax 300 ten years ago. It was a great solution for playing stylistically diverse music in a low volume setting. I upgraded to the POD X3 Live when that became available, and that was even better. However, some of the amps were either too muddy or too harsh and some of the effects (especially overdrive and distortion) destroyed the tone of the better amp models.
Those shortcomings are now virtually eliminated. The HD amp models REALLY sound better - and they respond better to playing technique. The HD overdrives and distortions now add to the tone - the Screamer and Tube Driver are very good now. The HD reverbs are a huge improvement, too - especially Octo and Cave (I tend to use reverb as a special effect on swells or as a guitar pad, and these are excellent tools). Bottom line: I'm MUCH happier with my tone now.
The app based editing is the single greatest improvement, though. Being able to quickly tweak and name patches with an intuitive editor has made life much easier. Plus, the app lets you easily control Variax tunings. The bright blue LED display and the colored LEDs around the switches are good, practical improvements, too. So, not only is my tone better, the ease of use and efficiency have improved drastically.
It's too soon to tell about reliability, but I've been using a Line 6 setup for 10 years with no problems.

.Lots of great tones already set, along with 12 spots for your own. I haven't played with the cloud libraries yet, but I like the concept of sharing settings.

.I was looking for something that I could run a 4 cable method with that wouldn't rob my amp's tone, but rather enhance it. I was thinking of getting a Boss GT100, Line 6 M13 or a Line 6 POD HD500X. I went with this because it was easier to use than the Line 6 POD HD500X or the Boss GT100, offered more than the M13 and is operated by a simple Android device. I like to keep my signal chain simple so for a 4 cable method I didn't need a ton of effects in a certain order. I don't like spending hours tweaking for the right tones either so this unit offers me the best of both worlds. I can use it for gigging or jamming with a live band, home practice and even I can go to Line 6's online library to find the tones I'm looking for if I can't can then on my amp. I was able to set up a great personal lead, rhythm and clean tone for my own original material and get tones for cover songs within seconds by using the Line 6 online tone library. If I have to say there are any cons they would be if you don't have an Android device this unit won't be nearly as easy to use and you can't access the Line 6 tone library. A lot of people say the screen display is too small, if you're using the Android app I don't see that being an issue, if not then it would be. Your signal chain is limited if you're using the 4 cable method, you can run 2 stomp boxes before or after the FX loop then you only have delay and reverb. There's a compression right after the amp, but you can't assign it in front of the amp so you'll have to use another stomp box compression if you want it before the preamp. The EQ is a pain in the butt to use and requires a lot of trial and error. What I do is run a separate EQ in the FX loops instead. The noise gate isn't too bad. It's not the best, but if set right it will get the job done. The some of the cab model are good and some sound bad, but again you'll have to find what work for you. If you want a unit that's easy to use through a modern Android device this maybe it.

.Its been awhile since I've been in the market for a new effects unit. After comparing and reviewing a few different units, I settled on the Line 6. With an assortment of effects that can be mix & matched and different amp styles to create the the ones you want to use, it's very flexible. You have to do some tweaking to get that killer tone, but it is in this unit somewhere. I found mine today after about two weeks of playing around with it. The bluetooth app is key to the success of the Firehawk. You can tweak everything from crunch to reverbs to reaction to your pick attack. The layout was confusing at first, since this is my first foray into the Digital age, but with some time spent, I've come to appreciate this unit as a great mid level entry.

.If you are considering this guitar effects pedal then don't consider anymore just do yourself a favor and buy it in all honestly if you can do more with any other effects pedal I'd be surprised this one does it all and it's great when practicing and sitting cause I can change and modify everything right from the iPad and then performing the buttons work just as good the sound quality to me sounds as good as anything you could want if you are a professional musician (paid) then maybe you could hear the difference and maybe it would matter but for me.......nah!! It's a shame good as you could want. Line 6 might not make everything good but this thing is awesome. And let me add that musicians friend is the best place to buy musical gear I'm a real stickler for good quality instruments so if I receive something that's broke or not up to participate these guys have no question about replacing it with another there just a good company with good support.

.I love this unit and this coming from an ole school tube snob. It's great to grab and go, plug into a PA and you're ready to play. I've tried many of the other efx units out there from most of the big names and they all went back (even some L6 pods), either they sounded to digital or were a pain to edit, or both. I edit this via ipad Bluetooth and can edit easier than ever before, save the changes in my unit and on my L6 online account and they're always there, also via ipad/BT I can play along to internet jamtracks, very cool easy hookup and a great, fun, learning tool. However if you expect to just plug and play you're more then likely going to go away disappointed. I play on a worship team and I like to use the online tone match library, I use it to get starter tones sometimes and tweek from there. Like I said at the start of this review I'm a tube snob, I've been playin for 40+yrs., owned JCM800's, 5150 Block, Fender, Vox, Ampeg Swart and many other amps and feel this unit will do a good job of copping them, but you must but in the time, otherwise pass.

.This is a really nice unit, everything the other reviews state. I will say though if you plan on playing thru an amp the 4 cable method sounds tons better than just plugging straight in the front of amp . Also the IOS app
is alot of fun and super easy

.A smart device is a must but then can be easily adjusted and saved. Haven't done cloud sounds yet but should prove positive.
