I'm 65, got my first guitar in 1966, a 1964 Gibson es335 at a pawn shop. I've had two strats and aprox 10 other brands, martin shanandoah, Gibson sg, Alverez, etc. I don't golf, fish, bowl, my hobbies are women and guitars. Having said all that 90% of solid body electric guitar sound is about 1. the player 2. the playability, neck radius etc 3. The amp & effects. Absoulely not brand name. Hype is so prevelent that players pro and novice alike, are adversely effected selection wise, me included for 45 yrs, they miss out on "the sound" they want. This Epi VE with the popular body combo'ed with the mahogany neck is the best sounding guitar I've ever played. Out of the box, minor tweaks, stock strings through a Bugera amp the popular body has that cutting edge that mahogany just doesn't have. The price is insane for a great guitar. If I had played it first in a shop I would have left with it whatever it took. Asian built guitars are not junk anymore. NOTE: I had already decided if I liked the guitar I would stain it darker than the site photo color. It arrive the color I had in mind, a major plus and erie coincidence.Thank you for reading and good day.

I hate that it won't stand alone. I have to use a special stand.Epiphone Les Paul Special Vintage Edition Electric Guitar Vintage Sunburst
.I was really surprised when I received this EE-Epiphone-e Les Paul Special VE! It came in perfect condition. The neck on this guitar is the most perfect fret work I have ever seen. All the neck needed was a slight truss rod/relief and polishing with "0000" Steel wool. I also set this guitar up to my liking which wasn't hard to do. Bottom line this is the nicest budget guitar I have ever purchased ( have bought a lot of them of various makes). I am very happy with it!

I had already bought a different guitar when I saw this one come along in the open box deals. I was wanting this guitar but it was back ordered for months so I bought something else. Then I saw it and immediately bough it and took the other one back. It sound great it was pretty well set up already and it is beautiful darker color than what the picture shows. But... then I started playing it for a few days and the connection for the neck pick up on the switch failed. I was really frustrated and Custom Guitars friend said that they could only take it back not repair it. So I could send it back and wait for months or fix it my self. I fixed it myself. It's AWESOME now. But the solder job done on this guitar that I have was horrible. Like a child did it blind folded. Probably the last one done on a Friday or something. Other than than though it is an awesome guitar for the money. I have only played acoustic for years and years so I wanted something inexpensive to get back in the feel of an electric. I would totally buy epiphone again.Epiphone Les Paul Special Vintage Edition Electric Guitar Vintage Sunburst
.I was surprised how good it sounded, especially the rhythm pickup. Didn't need to adjust the neck at all. Good action.

Great looking guitar for the price, clear sound, electronics all working perfectly.Frets are sharp and sticking out, probably due to cold weather and improper storage, shipping.
I'm keeping it and having the frets dressed properly (thus 4 stars) as my guess is others will be the same in that warehouse batch.
