...but not all...Here's the ramblings of a bassist seasoned over three decades:First, the complaints: Not including the DC adapter with the unit is ROBBERY. I wouldn't buy a toaster I couldn't plug in without buying a separate adapter, I would expect more from a $300 pedal! Also, I noticed on the octaving and wah functions that the signal breaks up quite a bit, completely unusable on a professional recording.That being said, if you need the basics, the chorus, reverb, flanging, phaser, delay, EQ, and compression settings work well. Some of the features used less frequently, like the square wave synth and defretter work nicely too. Overall, it will certainly save you some coin over trying to buy these effects separately. .When I bought this unit in march of 08, I was wanting a simple tuner with a muting switch and an easy-to-use noise gate. It will easily tune down to low B flat(I've never tested it lower, I can't report on that). I tested the tuner against my Peterson strob, I can verify the tuner is plenty close enough for live work, and you can see it in the pitch dark very well! The gate works PERFECT for me (I'm an established guitarist also, so I play cleaner than the average bassist). The synth stuff is as good (or as bad,depending on how you look at it) as anything out there (I also play synth on a Korg M50 live, obviously I have no use for the synth section).The wah I suppose is decent, but I have no use for it, so I'd say it "is what it is".When I bought it, I never considered using the eq section, but I do actually use it.The key to this unit, it adds NO noise into your chain whatsoever (This to me was the most important issue on adding something into my chain, and I tested it extensively)!VERY DURABLE product! Even tho I take very good care of my gear, there is NO sign of any problems yet, playing out 100 times with the unit already without a single glitch.I've even recorded some solo stuff using it as my pre (I still like going straight in generally speaking, old-school I guess)..If your looking for a synth, then BUY A REAL SYNTH, a bass is NOT a synth. But for the "I want a weird sound" kind-of-guy, the synth section might work for you.I play in a 3 piece, so I have to fill-in during leads, the octave up, adding a distortion to that octave doesn't sound that bad live (By itself it sounds like crap, but in the mix it does kind-of work).Put this rig behind a Warwick, into a Markbass (my rigging), you WILL be HAPPY!!!! .The sounds out of this thing are pretty darn good considering the price point. I'm not totally sold on some of the filter section settings, but I don't believe any pedal can really make an electric bass sound like an acoustic convincingly. The distortions are different enough from each other and do a pretty decent job of hitting their mark.Using the external switch you can adjust the speed of the delays and the phaser and flanger, which is nice to get things coordinated. I just wish there were more options for delay and chorus/phaser/flanger than they have there. They had to cut corners somewhere though.The octave tracking is so-so. It produces a sound, it doesn't actually take your sound down or up an octave, so the added octave sounds nothing like your tone. Still, it fills out the sound a bit. This is not true for the whammy setting, which does move your pitch. If I want to simply switch my sound up or down an octave I use the whammy setting as it's more convincing.The best part about this pedal though is that it's like using three stomp boxes at any given time. You don't need to mess with menus or anything complicated like that. Just set the top knobs to what you want that pedal to do, dial it in just like you would on that stomp box and click it on or off. Simple.The Kick Drum feature is a nice bonus as it can set up a really audible metronome blasting through your amp.If you want something simple to take to gigs or if you play a lot in tight venues or if you're still trying to figure out what sounds you need, this is absolutely the way to go. There's no amp modeling on this thing which is GOOD because hopefully you bought an amp that you LIKE the sound of. To me the fact that this is pretty much the only decent Multi-Effects unit out there that doesn't have amp modeling is one of the best reasons to go with this.By the way, this works great with guitar too. The guitar one doesn't have synth models, so if you're into that, this might be the guy for you. Fewer distortion options (who needs 8 distortion types anyway?) and slightly less flexible modulation with delay/reverb, but that's the trade off you make.It's a solid buy.

.Out of all the multi effects I've heard or used, none can compare to this. It has everything a bass player needs or could want. It can produce the same sound as many other popular effects, and the extras aren't too bad either. The tuner and noise suppressor are definitely an excellent bonus.

.I bought this pedal hoping that it would end all my effect needs in one fell swoop. I was hoping that i would never again have to use my imagination when covering songs who's effects I couldn't duplicate. I thought that by buying this system, I could rest assured that my creativity would be the only thing left to hinder my sound. I was gratified in every respect. The ONLY gripe I have is that it didn't come with an AC cord standard, but rechargable batteries are more mobile that a cord, and in the long run probably a better bet anyway. Very satisfied.

.So I own a ME50B...and I have some mixed feelings about it. To me, the biggest selling point was there is finally a multi effects pedal that doesn't have amp modeling! I dont have to haul all my effects around (which with my style of music, I have a lot of effects) After playing back and forth for about a year, I notice the ME50B sounds thin, overbearing, and hard to get a steady volume. Some effects were loud, some soft. Then after crashing, I bought 2 more out of fear it would let me down again. It is not very road worthy. Though, for a beginner in the business, it is a nice toy...emphesis on toy! I wound up selling both. I went back to the individual effects...Digitech bass synth, MXR Bass DI with distortion, Boss Bass Chorus, Snarling Dog Bawl Buster Wah, MXR Phase 90, and a BBE sonic stomp in that order. Sorry, but the ME50B doesn't work for me.

.The only use you can get out of this thing is just for recording. It has some major volume problems with different effects, and the lowers notes are unheard of using this thing. The only effect I really liked was the chorus and the synth effects, but even those were lacking. I'd rather to just buy single effect pedals and build a specific chain.

.Ive had the thing 3 years, use it at home and gigging/practice 30+ times a year, it travels well if u put it in a decent bag. The tuner is somewhat in precise but ok between songs when in a hurry-it gets you in the ballpark fast. I dont use a lot of effects, mainly chorus which if you set it and dont bump any knobs will give you a nice sound. The high band drive overdrive almost pays for the whole pedal, really nice. It comes with some pretty cool factory presets but if you dont buy 2 of thier separate footswitches (yes 2, 1 for up, 1 for down )you cant access more then the first 3 presets without bending down and pushing buttons. I just moved the 2 i liked and my own custom one to its first bank. the compressors are ok but do sound kinda dead, i use a maxcom/bbe in my rack and leave this off. Pre eq is nice for quick tweeking on stage, i mainly keep mine flat
. Its supposed to be patterned off a tech 21 but my tech 21 sounds much better, use it for tweeks, not your primary sound. Over all its pretty useful/efficient, however some settings will color your sound in an unpleasant way, levels can be hard to evenly set so take some time. For the money its worth it but its not really a top shelf anything. It does alot of things well but only a few things great.

.I've had this pedal for over half a year now and I've fallen in love with it! I just used it in a school talent show and it kept my amp from sounding horrible. The limiter/compressor is one of the best parts of it, right along side of the fact I can make my base sound like a lead guitar!

.Features: Awesome. This is the way pedals should be. The knobs and stompboxes are all there, easy to navigate, easy to manipulate, easy to play and experiment. You get to make your own tone, rather than trusting to some presets. I don't even use the presets on this box. The knobs are too much fun.Quality: Almost awesome. Specifically, it would be awesome if it weren't for the fantastic mediocrity of the distortion/synth box. Everything on there is completely impossible to make sound good. It's tremendously cavernous and raw and eats your tone alive. Totally unbecoming for a rhythm instrument.That said, the other options are great. There are some really good filter options, the octavers are great, as are the chorus and delay and reverb, and the defretter absolutely rocks and is unique--I can't find another box that has it. Also, the wah expression option is terrific.Value: Awesome. Any one of these stomp boxes has way more than $300/worth of effects, and there are three stomp boxes, to say nothing of compression, EQ, presets, and a volume/expression pedal.Overall: I can't forgive the mediocre distortion, but neither can I give up the defretter and all of the other options and the ease of use. This was my first bass pedal and it will be many many years, if ever, before I need to upgrade.
