I simply love this product. It is literally like they got together with top guitarist and asked them if they could dream up a pedal board switcher, what features would it have? Okay, it would be silent when switching, allow you to true bypass any pedal, allow you to arrange the pedals into any order per patch, arrange effects in parallel, control up to 6 switch channels amps, control tempos on pedals, send MIDI controls per patch to anything, have 2 selectable outputs per patch for bi-amping, mute, more banks than you'll ever need to store, ability to insert your pedals in any order into your amp's effects loop. The housing is built for a lifetime of pro use, and comes with through bolts for your pedalboard. .I love this unit for what it is capable of doing, BUT the manual is difficult to navigate, and Roland/BOSS have NOT provided quick/easier guides to setting this unit up. In particular, the MENU system is a bit hard for me to understand, and I've spent years programming the Rocktron All Access/Patchmate combination! IF they'd put together an EASY guide to doing some of the common setups that this unit is capable of doing, I'd be much happier! Also be prepared to spend some cash - cabling is going to set you back more than a few greenbacks, especially if real-esyaye is tight! The BEST part is that you can use what they call the Four-Cabe Method - using your amps FX Loop! I have done this, and have a few pedals in that loop besides what's on the floor. I have a very portable rig, that is getting road-ready after a few more tweaks and some deeper programming understanding on my list of things to get done this week!

Boss has never ceased to amaze me ever since the DS--1. Every road block and hurdle I have experienced with stomp boxes has been carefully considered and addressed by the ES-8. The freedom and control along with the sound quality and reliability has completely won me over as one of Boss' biggest fans.
