Fender amps of the '50s and '60s have become the benchmark not only for modern guitar amplifier design, but for great tone too. These landmark circuit designs are part of a recipe for terrific tone, and, as with any good recipe, carefully chosen ingredients can turn something already inherently great into something truly magical. Intentional or not, part of the subtle tonal magic and nuance of vintage Fender amps were the everyday capacitors used in them.
Yellow Astron caps were used in mid- to late-'50s Fender Tweed amps, and in some early-'60s blonde and brown amps. Made from kraft paper, tin foil and resin, "Yellows" produce the classic Fender tweed tone in all its glory - smooth highs, fat bass and rich midrange swirl.

Really like these YellowI almost Never go to the trouble to write a review, but when I looked & saw there were no reviews yet I thought to give my thoughts.... I'm pretty particular about tone and have had lots of tweeds & I'm extremely happy with these new caps that Fender just put out. The vintage yellow Astrons are one of the Key ingredients in an old Fender tweed that give them that signature tone-up till now was hard to replace with anything that sounded similar...I've tried Jupitor Yellows & Reds and have a few in my tweeds and they are not so far off the mark, but these Fender yellow caps actually do sound closer to vintage Yellow Astrons.
My hats off to Fender for getting this sound right. Also, I tried the Fender reissue 5 watt 250 ohm bias resistors and those sound-excellent-as well! Nice...
Fender Should try & lower the Price--not for the faint of heart, but the sound of these caps-very is very close to original & will no doubt improve the sound of an old fender tweed with badly leaky Yellow's or some other aftermarket replacement caps...
