The nut is a great fit in the slot, but the older Precision basses had a slightly wider 1-3/4" neck -- 1-5/8" is now the most common. For anyone with that size, this is a good unit. It still had a little flash from the filing, but that's no big deal. Overall, good value for the money.Fender American Standard Precision Bass Nut
.This nut was incredible! It slid right into the slot that the old nut came out of and with a dab of glue, didn't move a bit! The 4 string slots coincided with the 4 strings that were already on the bass in a way that can only be described as magic! Thanks to the support this nut provides, I was able to play my 94 Squier P bass just like the day it was new. However.. and thankfully.. the action from this nut was left pretty high.. but this helps to make for personalization, and / or really strong finger muscles.
