I'm a lifelong Fender fan, but oddly enough I've only owned Precisions with just a passing interest in the Jazz family. About a year ago I decided to give the Jazz a closer look and was planning to start with a Squier Classic Vibe since it wouldn't involve much investment. But as soon as I picked up the Road Worn, I was hooked. I own a real 1958 Precision, and this bass has the same feel and vibe as the old fella. I love the palette of tone that's possible, and the neck is awesome. I'm not crazy about Fender strings, so I restringed it with DR Marcus Millers which seemed appropriate. One downside compared to a Precision is single coil pickups manage to allow 60Hz line noise, lights, and any other RFI that is present to bleed through. Shielding really helped, though. The bottom line: this is an awesome bass, a little pricey, but now my first choice for practice and gigs. You're not likely to be disappointed...Fender Road Worn '60s Jazz Bass 3-Color Sunburst
.Earlier review I ahd taken out the original p/ups and installed fender custom shop p/uops thinking it an improvement. Well, it was only a change not an improvement. I put the originals back in for a mopre proper old school tone and sweeter dynamic range. All better. "we don't need no stinking upgrades".

.Imho this is the best bass fender is putting out these days.The neck on this bass is incredible,and is one the best features.I have the fiesta red and its resonant.Bass is also very light,which is good too.These Basses are killer!

.I was the biggest Mexican Fender snob until I played this bass... In my opinion, it has it shortcomings. That being said, with a few minor investments, you can make this thing into an absolute powerhouse. First, the pickups... the pickups that come stock really aren't that bad but I ended up switching them out for the Aguilar 60's jazz pickups and experienced a very noticeable change. One of my biggest complaints with MIM Fenders is the shotty wiring job they seem to do so I switched it out with a Texas Customs BASSics control plate with oil-can capacitors (no tangible difference between oil-cans and modern day but it does add an interesting touch of authenticity and it didnt cost any extra $$ to get them). Lastly, I switched out the bridge for a Hipshot... I want to point out that I wasn't having any problems with the things I switched out on this bass, but making these few little adjustments gave me a very noticeable change. I would put this bass against any production line MIA Fender. My total investment in replacement parts still left me paying less for this than a new American Standard.

.Jaco Pastorius, Marcus miller, Victor bailey, Geddy Lee...All of these Monsters of the Bass world uses Fender buddy! I'm just writing a review on this model because this is a particular one. The sound is amazing and the vintage finish blew me away. I'm going to buy this model (3 Tone Sunburst) just to remove the Frets and make Fretless bass like Jaco did. Actually if you want a Jaco look this is it. Remove the frets and the pickguard and you will get a Jaco Model. I don't have the money to afford a Jaco Replic Custom Shop Bass so this is the cheaper way to go if you are a Jaco Fan like me.
