I gave this amp a try after playing through several Bassman all tube heads both the 100 and 300 SuperBassman. The All Tube units sounded great but are very heavy. The 500 is nice and light at just under 20 lbs. (the Super is nearly 90 lbs!) I have been very happy so far, the tone is fantastic, super warm and rounded in the vintage mode, and agressive in overdrive. I am currently playing it through a Rumble 1x15 and am thinking about adding a Rumble 2x10. With the 1x15 it keeps up with the band just fine even when my drummer is getting rowdy. My hope is that the Bassman 500 is the last head I will need. So far it is a winner. As an added bonus it looks great on stage with the silver grill cloth on it and the 1x15.

.I am really loving this Fender Bassman 500 bass head. It delivers that smooth, buttery sound from the Bassman tone stack with gobs of power. And the kicker is that the amp is almost comically light. It weighs almost nothing compared to other much less powerful amps.
The construction is solid. It looks great. I've got it sitting on top of my Fender 215 PRO.
Originally, I was an Ampeg man. They seemed to be popular and they did sound good when you dialed them in. But the Bassmans just seem so much easier to dial in. A Precision Bass and a Bassman are a match made in heaven. I no longer have any Ampegs. I am hooked on Bassmans. I wish I could have found an amp like this years ago.

.After using the Bassman 500 for 10 months now I am even happier with it than when I first started to use it. I have added a 2x10 Rumble to the original 1x15 Rumble cab. The 2x10 being punchier and the 1x15 warmer. I use them together often. Durability has been great, though I handle it with care like all my instruments. Power has not been an issue at all, for small venues using one cab, going above 3 on the master is too much. In larger venues up to 500 seats indoors, with both cabs going above 5 or 6 is excessive. With the direct out any larger would be going through the house system anyway. Over the last 10 months of use I have been favorably impressed by the tonal range of the head. When I bought this head my hope was that it is the last one I will need, I think it is going to live up to that goal, though I have learned to never say never ;~)

.Very nice piece of equipment.
Fender Bassman Pro 500W Hybrid Bass Head
.I had high hopes for this head. Unfortunately, I had to return the first unit because it rocked back-and-forth significantly on top of the cab (I had considered shimming the feet, but given the price, decided to return it). The replacement is rock steady, but the TOLEX covering on the back was completely unglued. Not wanting to return another one, I decided to re-glue the covering with proper contact cement and a roller. The results turned out fine, but...really? On a brand new production head? I wish I would have returned it for an nicely built AMPEG, which I will likely replace it with. The 4 x 10 rumble cabinet that I paired it with was equally suspect in craftsmanship (gaps in the TOLEX wrap). Incidentally, all of my basses (save one) are Fenders.

.This head sounds so good, I was so disappointed when it stopped working after only 3 times using it. I might just upgrade to the all tube version at some point. Maybe mine was a dud, or its an issue Fender will take care of moving forward.

.I've been playing Bass since the 60's, and have owned over 2 hundred bass amps, a to z. Always been a Fender fan. Fender says it's 500 watts, however after calling them, it's only 350 watts @ 8 ohms. i use it for 1x15, 2x10 and some 4x10 cabs. Cool look. Old School vibe, 2 channel with footswitch multiple tones. Good for small gigs, and recording. For live gigs at the same price, my Markbass 800 tube and a 4x10 cab blows it away!
