I was looking for a braided cloth cable and this one is cloth covered in plastic. It is basically like having a garden hose attached to your guitar. 1/4 ends seem rather cheap.Fender California Instrument Cable Lake Placid Blue 20 ft.

.The plugs on the "California" series are apparently not high quality chrome - they are oxidizing on my cables. Also, I bought two different "California" cables (different lengths) and one of them shorted out (stopped working) after a few months. The plastic covering also gets a sticky feel over a long period of time. These are disappointing for a Fender-branded product. I got mine several years ago, so maybe they improved the product since then. I hope so. The ad says these have a lifetime guarantee. I'll have to send the broken one back. But I'm sure I didn't keep the receipt for a cable...

.I bought a 15' cord and have had no issues over the past 8 months of practicing twice a week and playing shows with my band. This includes getting stepped and stomped on, and mistakenly shut in cases numerous times a week. Nothing spectacular, but it is a cool looking cable that works great and has held up to a heavy work load.

.Heck, at the price these are selling for, pick one up in each color. I had a blue one, now I have a green one too. Red seems to be angry, so I probably won't buy a red one. Seems to be good quality, haven't had one of these fender cables go kaputz on me yet, and there is no obvious tone quality issues with these cables, so I'll say that they are good quality, especially at bedroom and basement volume levels. Haven't gigged with this cable yet. But usually I go wireless at gigs. Yeah, go ahead, buy one.
