Introduced at the 2014 Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany, the DC-Aura GT comes equipped with Fishman F1 Aura Plus electronics and consists of an East Indian rosewood body with a satin finish and a polished gloss Sitka spruce top featuring a two ring pearl rosette. Added features include a certified African blackwood bridge and fingerboard, with hexagon pearl inlays. The nickel ratio tuners with skeleton knobs allow each string to have its own gear ratio. The skeleton button adds a jewel-like appearance and lessens the weight of the tuners.
Fishman F1 Aura +
The Fishman F1 Aura+ features the stunning realism of award-winning Aura Acoustic Imaging technology in a distinctive and easy-to-use onboard preamp system. The heart of this onboard intelligence is its ability to replicate the sound of nine different world-class studio microphones delivered in an intuitive menu-driven interface that is very versatile with controls placed in perfect position so you won't be slowed down while you are in the middle of performing. You can shape your tone with two low-profile control buttons and a single, large, bright LED display.

This is pretty much as advertised and as you would expect. I like the skeleton key tuners for their distinctiveness, and they are differentially geared which is really nice. Unplugged, this guitar has a lot of sustain and a smooth, even sound. The high notes don't really sing and ring as much as I would love, but maybe that will get better as I play it more.It seems very nicely set up on arrival, plays easily with no fret buzz.
The Fishman pre-amp is a little complex to operate if you want to use all the features, but it sounds great without any tweaking.
Visually, it looks a little too new and too bright to fit my ideal. If I were the designer, I'd use something other than bright white for the bindings (antique white or even brown or black) and I would also tone down the brightness of the top, yellow it out a little. That said, the mother of pearl inlay around the soundhole and on the frets is really nice. I'm happy to own it and to get to play it. I imagine I'll have it for the rest of my life.

.I don't normally buy products without reading reviews first. But this Guitar was an exception. My first impression when I opened the case was WOW. When I picked it up I knew I had a keeper. The playability and tone is amazing. It is a Martin through and through. It is a new model but Martin pulled out all the stops in the construction of this Guitar. It is a beautiful instrument. Don't be afraid to buy this one

.I bought this open box and had some reservations due to not really knowing what was wrong with it. Boy was in for a surprise. Very little sign of being previously played and at a serious price reduction. That all aside, this is one very awesome sounding and super easy to play guitar. I would buy it again at full price if necessary. If you are considering this guitar, I can say the sustain, the tone woods used, it all comes together very well for my ear. When I pull this guitar out of the case I can see the mouths open as people say wow.

.I was looking for a newer model Martin guitar and I chose the 2014 DC Aura GT. I have played for many years part time but in 12/2012 started playing professionally full time. I just completed my 350th professional gig yesterday. I have been using my 2005 Martin SPJC-16RE Acoustic-Electric as my workhorse. I also have a Little Martin A/E and a 2003 Martin D-15 Mahogany Top. The DC Aura GT has great sustain as all Martins do. I like the white binding and the brightness of the guitar as it is a nice change from my other ones. It is equipped with the Fishman F1 Aura + electronics which makes this a great live performance as well as a recording instrument. It comes with an instructional DVD and a booklet for the electronics. It does seem a little complicated at first but if you keep reviewing the step-by-step instructions, it gets easier to understand. It provides a wide range of sound options which make the guitar very versatile. The factory set up is the best action I have encountered on a new Martin so far. I think this is a great deal for the price especially because it has the same state-of-the-art on-board sound system found on the more expensive guitars.

.The feel and sound of the classic dreadnought and so much more. The gloss finish spruce top provides the loud, clear, multi frequency response that one expects out of a dreadnought. The cut away and playabiliy make this instrument a jazz, jam, bluesgrass dream. Builtin tuner and mic modeling. Acoustically or electrically you wont be disappointed.

.Martin's new design plays easy and sounds rich. Highs are distinct and bass is mellow. No muddy sounds on this cut-away. It arrived with the action slightly high, but very playable. The Fishman system is easy to use and to quickly edit the settings. I found one extremely minor finish flaw on the neck that the Martin techs missed, a .25mm raised chip of lacquer. It should be easily addressed when I have time.
Custom Guitars Friend made ordering easy and it was shipped quickly and packed well.

.I purchased this just over a month ago. Right out of the box I was just amazed. The playability of this guitar is fantastic. Set up was nice and although the electronics can be a little confusing the factory setup works just fine for most occasions. Unplugged it sounds great. Plugged in sounds even better. I've used this for about 4 ot 5 gigs since I got it and love it. I can't put it down.
