Product Features

Rich overtones and improved sustain thanks to the rosewood back and sides deliver improved sound through greater ‘depth’. The appearance, with abalone inlay around the sound hole, is more luxurious and an obvious step-up.
Specially Developed Scalloped Bracing
's modern FG has louder and stronger sound in the low- to mid-ranges, thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the R&D Division. ’s engineers have achieved this sound by utilizing analysis and simulation to arrive at the best bracing design without depending on tradition or guesswork. This analysis led to the development of the new scalloped bracing pattern, an ideal acoustic structure that maintains the durability of the top board while bringing out the most sound the FG has to offer.

My FG830 arrived almost one week ago and I have been in love ever since. I have owned much more expensive guitars over the years and this guitar is right up with them all. My Martin, which I have owned for more than 45 yrs. and a broken in sound that can't be equaled is a close first to this much less expensive under three hundred .Very attractive with abalone rosette and beautiful solid top. A must have for any guitar collection. Very glad i did! Dig it!

.I love this guitar. For the price, you can't find a better sounding guitar. I was looking to upgrade my FG700S and I was looking at many different models and brands at the seven hundred price range. I played many at my local guitar store and I liked the sound of a few more expensive guitars (including Martins and Taylors) until I tried the FG830. This guitar sounds amazing, considering it costs less than half the price I was looking to spend. The new scalloped bracing gives this guitar a huge upgrade, the sound is so rich and the bass sounds so much better. The Rosewood gives it such a beautiful sound.
Overall, this guitar is a huge improvement over the very nice sound of the FG700S. You can't go wrong with and the FG830.
If you are looking for a great sounding guitar that will rival more expensive models, I would advice you to try the FG830, you will not be disappointed.
Jesus loves you!!

.Excellent workmanship and thin glossy finish. Initial playing gave sound that was acceptable, but not outstanding. The high strings were resonant, but lacking somewhat in brightness. Replacing the plastic saddle with bone gave much better high frequency response and tone. Ironically, the factory strings and bridge pins give better sound than new Elixir 80-20 bronze light gauge nanoweb strings with Tusq 2mm dot (indicates size) bridge pins. These Tusq pins simply did not fit well; the low E string kept popping out. Perhaps the 4mm dot size would fit better. I smoothed the bridge, fingerboard, and sides of the frets with 0000 steel wool and applied lemon oil, and the instrument feels much nicer.
This instrument has a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, as is expected on instruments lower-priced. High-end instruments have ebony, which is rapidly becoming difficult to obtain. Ebony gives brightness; rosewood appears to give more resonance, but less brightness. I am content now with the level of brightness, with the new bone saddle, when tuned to full pitch. If you like using lower tunings, you might look for a jumbo shaped instrument, or perhaps a concert size. Dreadnaught guitars tend to be bass oriented, and lowering the tuning two or three frets takes away too much of the high end frequencies.
There are no electronics, but I take this as a plus. Under-saddle pickups hinder the acoustic tone, as does the use of a cutaway design. I installed the K & K Mini pickup on all my guitars, which doesn't affect the acoustic tone, and gives awesome amplified tone. So… if you want a pickup, consider the K & K mini.
Hints: My flat pick is a Clayton fake tortoiseshell .56mm which I made more pointed with a file, and filed the tip thinner. A hole punched close to the tip gives better grip. The result: outstanding, crisp tone, even with a rosewood instrument.
Conclusion: Good sound, less cost than a Martin or Taylor.
My use: Home worship.

.Received this within 2 days of ordering. Well made guitar that is very nice looking with the binding on neck and body and abalone on the rosette. Out of the box the action was high at the nut and saddle. I had to adjust nut action to .018 and was able to get action to nearly 4/64 at 12th fret. Plays like a dream, but do expect to have to either set it up yourself or take it and get a set up.
