Product Features

The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX/GX Electric Guitar offers you a choice between 2 slightly different guitars, the EX and the GX. Both share identical specifications with the important exception of the color finishes and the pickups onboard. The EX model is finished in either Midnight Ebony or Midnight Sapphire with EMG 81/85 active humbuckers, while the GX model comes in Black Cherry and Cherry Sunburst and features Gibson 498T/490R humbuckers. So make your choice. Either way, it's a win-win.

The Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX Outfit
This Les Paul brings back the axe loved by metal shredders around the world. And now, along with EMG humbuckers, the EX Outfit includes individual volume and tone controls for each pickup, a mahogany body with a stunning quilt maple veneer top, and a super fast mahogany neck that has a SpeedTaper D-profile with a satin finish and a 24.75" scale. The elegant rosewood fingerboard has 24 jumbo frets, a 14" radius, a standard 1.68" graphite nut, and beautiful mother-of-pearl and abalone block and triangle inlays on the 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, and 15th frets, alternating with mother-of-pearl blocks on frets 17, 19, 21, and 24. The clipped dove wing headstock has 5-ply white and black binding with a mother-of-pearl "stickpin" design on the headstock face and Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX or GX on the bell-shaped truss rod cover.

Its active EMG 81/85 pickups excel at high volume and are a favorite among the world's top metal players--including Zakk Wylde--for their beefy tone. Both pickup designs feature close apterture coils with Alnico V magnets for a smooth tone that can go from 1959 to far into the future or anywhere in between. And for the first time, the EX features individual volume and tone controls for each pickup. The EMG pickups are powered by a 9-volt battery conveniently located in the back of the guitar in an easy-to-access compartment.

The Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX's stunning black hardware goes beyond anything seen before in the Prophecy series including black metal barrel controls with mother of pearl inlaid tops, EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's legendary LockTone tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, an EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Exclusive non-rotating heavy-duty output jack, and black EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e straplocks. The EX also includes black Grover 14:1 machine heads for superb tuning accuracy, just like you find on all the very best Les Pauls. Finally, the EX includes a hard case to provide the very best protection for your instrument.

The Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX Outfit
This guitar is the supreme Les Paul for those who dare to break new ground in speed, sound, and technique. And now, the GX features Gibson USA's powerful 490R/498T humbucker combination with push/pull coil-tapping for each pickup, an elegant mother of pearl and abalone block & triangle inlay and pickup individual volume and tone controls in the traditional Les Paul layout.

The Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX Outfit features a mahogany body with a stunning Quilt maple veneer top that's available in two beautiful color finishes, Black Cherry and Heritage Cherry Sunburst. The super fast mahogany neck has a SpeedTaper D-profile with a satin finish and a 24.75" scale. The elegant rosewood fingerboard has 24 jumbo frets, a 14" radius, a standard 1.68" graphite nut, and beautiful mother-of-pearl and abalone block and triangle inlays on the 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, and 15th frets, alternating with mother-of-pearl block inlays on frets 17, 19, 21, and 24. The classic EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Clipped Dovewing headstock has 5-ply white and black binding with a mother of pearl "stickpin" design on the headstock face and Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX on the bell-shaped truss rod cover.

Fans of the original Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX, fitted with Gibson DirtyFingers, often noted that the 490R/498T might be a great match for the new GX. They heard you and your wish was EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's command. The new Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX features a Gibson USA 490R humbucker in the neck position and a Gibson USA 498T in the bridge position. The 490R features an Alnico II bar magnet and the 498T carries an Alnico-V bar magnet. These pickups have the traditional characteristics of the original "Patent Applied For" tone that's unmistakably from Gibson's legendary family of humbucker pickups but, with a modern edge to give your tone a distinct personality. Best of all, each pickup features coil tapping via a push/pull control at each pickup's volume knob. And now for the first time, the Prophecy GX features individual volume and tone controls for each pickup.

Over the last decade, EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e has built a reputation for outstanding quality, especially in their hardware. Now, the Prophecy GX gold hardware goes beyond anything seen before in the Prophecy series beginning with the GX's gold metal barrel controls with mother of pearl inlaid tops, their legendary gold LockTone tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, a gold EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Exclusive non-rotating heavy-duty output jack, and gold EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e straplocks. The Prophecy GX also includes gold Grover 14:1 machine heads for superb tuning accuracy, just like you find on all the best Les Pauls. The Prophecy GX also includes a hard case so you have the security to take your GX anywhere the music takes you. Includes case.

I bought a Restock for 70% off. It still had the protective plastic on it. I found a TINY finish imperfection (It took 3 days for me to find it). The guitar is beautiful and the coil splitting feature makes it so versatile. The Gibson USA pickups are the same ones featured in a $4000 Gibson Les Paul Custom. Great traditional LP tones, top quality hardware, and the coolness factor make this Les Paul Prophecy an absolute no brainer !! At regular price it's a great guitar. If you can buy it for less, DON'T HESITATE !! I've been playing for nearly 50 years and owned more than 400 guitars. I know what I'm talking about

.The humbuckers sound great, neck plays smooth and fast and can handle any genre of music.
Is what it is. Pretty basic, but the double humbuckers make it great for rock music, modern or classic.
It's a Les Paul, need I say more?
For the money you can't go better. Great for players of all genres and skill level.

.Would like to rate higher but unsure if an acceptable product can originate from China plant. The tonal capabilities and playability are addictive. First guitar: push pull knob popped out. Second guitar: slight neck dents and slight ?cosmetic? crack way far down on the fretboard. Third guitar: we'll see. Return process was easy--something tells me they do this often.

.This guitar is a work of art.

They really nailed all of the things I have been wanting in a Les Paul. I own a LP standard and a Traditional Pro, but this one feels better and seems more playable to me than they do. It is nice to have the neck joint at the 19 fret as apposed to the 17 fret.

It is very esthetically pleasing. The quilted maple top, Ebony fret board, custom inlays, binding, and gold hardware are like bling!!!
Even the back of the guitar looks good. I worry a little about how well the gold plating will wear over time.

I used to find myself switching between an LP and Jackson for playability reasons, but this one seems to bridge that gap.
I like the longer neck but it does take some getting used to. At first I got a little confused about what fret I was playing on (lol).
The overall feel of the neck is awesome (not too thick or thin). I like the 14" radius fret board too, though I like a 12"-16" compound radius better.

This guitar has tone and sustains forever. Some of the other reviews I read stated that theirs had a heavy un-chambered body. Mine feels a bit lighter and possibly chambered (weight relieved).
Many LP fans are not crazy about the Gibson 498t/460 combination. I think they sound pretty good for classic rock. I would try them yourself.

For the price this guitar is an excellent value, especially since it comes with a case. Over all I really like it.

.This may sound unreal, maybe I got majorly lucky but I'm not sending this one back. The feel is solid and heavy, but not too heavy. I went over this baby like a freak, not a single flaw or scratch, beautiful quilt and binding and color. The EMG pups are outstanding, everything from acoustic-like clean, to bell, to epic crunch tones. This Midnight Ebony is sick, my friends are like dude. I was sad to let a 60's Gib-LP go and this EPI-LP is everything that it was and so more. When I got it the setup and intonation was spot on. I can't think of a single thing I would change. Almost got one last year, glad I waited. The 2-vol, 2-tone version is way. If you get one like this one you will rant too.

.I've been playing guitar off and on since I was 10,I'm 43 now.I felt like I peaked at 28,life got in the way,and I didn't really get to focus on playing as I would have liked.I focused mainly on acoustic, which I always liked anyway, since I didn't need a band to perform,I could do anything I wanted pretty much, but I recently decided I wanted to get an Electric.I've always liked LP's since I played a really nice 77 LP custom, but I couldn't afford it at the time. This is a GREAT guitar for the price.I would put it up against the 3,000 Gibsons all day long.Mine was shipped well, came in a good solid case, inside of a box, well packed.I put heavier strings on mine. They usually always come with small strings.I have learned painfully over the years about buying a good guitar, had alot of trial and error.Music store jerk's,and others sometimes would make you feel stupid for asking questions so I had to learn everything on my own.Now people tend to be much more helpful.Custom Guitars friend has always been helpful, and fair to me.They got thsi guitar right,I have the Ebony one, sounds excellent. They are meade in China,I was able to enter my serial # and take a virtual tour of the factory, and find out exactly when mine was made. They come from China, but they are doing something right over there, then mine was set up,and inspected in the US,so they say,and it seeems that way, because it's a great guitar, and I have been through quite a few, like I said,I have seen people pay through the nose for a name on a headstock, and I think it's stupid. There is a alot of predatory practices going on in the guitar biz these days,EE-Epiphone-e is a good brand too,and it's good guitar,if you get the same result as I did you can't go wrong with this one!I don't see how anyone could give this a negative review, unless they are angry that they spent 3,000 on another guitar, and they could have gotten the same quality for this one!
Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX/GX Electric Guitar Midnight Sapphire
.well conceived, but typical hit or miss quality control.needed way too much adjusting for my liking . slim neck is good idea, and neck joint at 18th fret a great idea. but materials made it a very weak neck.easily bendable. finish was nice, one very minor finish flaw. split coils very usable. for what I wanted as a les paul its sound as a whole was too bright for me, but if this was being used as a sole guitar, it was middle of the road in the right way. fret job was reasonable. case was nice ,but lid did not close properly, making one of the clasps, way too loose and it did not stay closed. this was not one of the better ones, but I would still say try one,if your lucky you will get one thats right on. A great guitar in concept but lack of quality materials and quality control undermind its potential
Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX/GX Electric Guitar Midnight Sapphire
.Incredible setup. Didn't have to do much. Versatel sounds and fast neck. Sounds as good and plays better than some of my custom expensive guitars.
Really did an outstanding job on this one.
Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX/GX Electric Guitar Midnight Sapphire
.One of the best sounding and playing guitars I own (24).It is new and only the second time I played it (last night)it absolutely blew me away. This is right out of the box a super fast neck screaming monster of a guitar. This blows the Gibson les paul studio that I sent back right out of the water -- it was a clunker!?
Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX/GX Electric Guitar Midnight Sapphire
.All the guitars I own, I have gotten from MF, so when I was in the market for a new electric, I already knew where to look. I had an idea of what I wanted; solid to semi-holow body, heavy duty humbuckers, nothing to flashy, but something versatile as I play a variety of styles. Right away I found this in the used section, bought level 2 or whatever they called it, not mint but in decent shape, i have kids and carry guitars around the house, so I knew if I bought it mint, it wouldnt stay that way. I instantly knew this was the one when i saw the picture, it was just perfect, so I ordered it at like 2am on a friday, expecting to receive it maybe the next thursday or friday. It arrived on TUESDAY, and it was just perfect. I read a review that said the pickup battery was dead, and so was mine, and I assume thats what made it not "mint" perfect, theres nothing wrong with it, no dings, no dead frets, nothing. A new 9V and its like brand new. And it does it all, I can play Slayer and Pantera just as smoothly and cleanly as I can play Eagles and Animals, every note rings true and clear, it is awesome. Absolutely love it. THANKS MUSICIANS FRIEND!!!!!!!!!
