I definitely rate this Uke a 9, particularly with the price considered. I was really kind of expecting the finish to look Cheesy, but for the price, I wasn't gonna complain. Well the pics don't do it justice, it's really well executed. One "sticking point" might be that they call it an acoustic/electric, and if you are looking for an accoustic uke that ya can plug in too . . .it may disappoint. It's simply too quiet without being connected to an amp for even living room play for friends. This is GREAT for me personally though, because I can really play it after my girlfriend goes to bed, instead of trying to play quietly on my Oscar Schmidt Accoustic. which will wake her up if I forget and try to work out the strings heavily. This one won't do that, so it works well for me. The sound is actually excellent in "acoustic mode", just very quiet. The uke did come with a small low end (but adequate) amp cable.I also bought a Raven RG20 Amp, and once I plugged it in, well DANG! This little Uke can flat-out rock. Even with the limitations of the basic, low-frills amp, you can get a lot of different sounds out of this uke, and do it with ease. I can't wait to get an effects pedal in the middle!
Even with just the basic amp, it was easy to get nice clean sound for songs like "The Boxer" by Simon and Garfunkle, or enough distortion and such fro some Pink Floyd, or even a somewhat "grunge rock" type sound. It's just a really easy uke to play, simple as that.
To be honest, I can't imagine getting a nicer electric uke for less money. I'd have been satisfied if I'd paid 250 bucks for it, quite honestly. For those wondering what amp to get for a uke like this, I just took a guess, but the RG20 is working well for me on the uke and with the way/what I play. and seems like it would even suffice for playing in a small neighborhood pub or whatever. Kudos to EE-Epiphone-e on this ukulele . . .and dang, how else can ya get a brand new Les Paul for this price?
I'm satisfied with this ukulele immensely. I don't care for the pick guard, but hey, it is made to mimic a Les Paul guitar. And some folks will surely use a pick, so I'm being overly critical on that point. The Uke did come with a amp cable, I was glad since I forgot to order one along with the Uke And Amp I ordered. A low end, but adequate cable.
The passive pickup works MUCH better than I expected it to. I may add a preamp later, but for now, I'm perfectly happy with the passive setup . . .and I didn't expect to be.
I can't imagine anyone rating this Ukuleles quality less than a 10, particularly with the price being considered. It looks MUCH better than even the advertising pictures show, which surprised me. The finish was perfect. I talk about that the overall review. I expected the sunburst pattern to look kinda "stenciled" like it does in the advertizing pictures . . . which it didn't. I'd have been happy with the quality at twice the price. The neck was perfect, frets set well and level, nothing even threatening to buzz, everything was ready to go after a quick tune.
Again, what can I say . . . . A Les Paul ukulele . . . . for about the price of a toaster oven.

.I'm new to the electric ukulele. So I also needed an amp. I went to a local music shop to test a few with the best ukulele's they have. Let me just say, if you want a ukulele you can plug in, epiphone has given you a golden opportunity. This les paul ukulele sounds just as good if not better than the ones that sell for a lot more. The two features I noticed the pricey ones have over the les paul ukulele are EQ and projection when unplugged. Can you buy a better ukulele? Yes you can, but why would you need to?
This ukulele has 19 frets, A beautiful finish, and looks like a LES PAUL! It comes with a gig bag and a cable. There is no EQ but in my opinion it is not missed.
This little baby feels solid in your hands. The sound, most importantly, is smoking when plugged in. However it has little projection when unplugged. It still has a very sweet tone unplugged and could be mic'd to give an entirely different sound than the pick up provides. The finish is chipped where the neck is bolted to the body, but it is a micro blemish. The gig bag is black with the epiphone logo printed on the front. The bag is featured with a double zipper and has a pocket to store strings, cables, autographs, ect... The cable is low quality but works.

I never thought of buying a ukulele until I was checking out at a guitar store and saw this little thing that looked like a mini Les Paul. After playing around with it for a couple of minutes I knew I had to get one of these. For the money it can't be beat...and sounds awesome when plugged in.

.Overall, I would NOT buy this instrument again and wouldn't suggest it to people without warning them of my issues. If this ukulele broke, I'd replace it with a Kala. I wasn't very well pleased with this uke (or it's cheap gig bag) and will not be holding onto it for much longer.
I bought this uke after previously owning a Beaver Creek (no-name Canadian brand) ukulele and then a Kala Mahogany KA-C ukulele. I had made the decision to sell my Kala and buy this EE-Epiphone-e because I've been overwhelmingly pleased with my Thunderbird Pro IV bass and trusted the EE-Epiphone-e brand (although I have been skeptical in my 7 years of being a musician). I must say that after owning the Epi uke for about 3 months now, I am looking to sell it in order to buy my Kala back. I had bought this ukulele because it had a built in pickup (which my Kala did not have) and it looked sweet! I was pleased with the aesthetics but the sound quality is just missing. I had heard this uke has two very different sounds when plugged into a system and when played acoustically. This is exactly true and I'll highlight it in the next section.
Note: I replaced the strings on my epiphone ukulele instantly because I was told to do so. If you own this ukulele (or are going to), CHANGE THE STRINGS. Although I bash the ukulele a little bit in the next paragraph, you will hear a substancial difference in sound quality (for the better) if you change the strings.When played acoustically, this ukulele has a very flat sound. I say that especially because the ukulele itself is very flat. This affects the whole sound of the instrument and does not sound like a true ukulele much at all. However, that being said, this should be expected by anyone purchasing the ukulele because it clearly IS an acoustic/electric combo. Because of that, there needs to be sacrifice on both ends to meet in the middle.When playing through a system, this ukulele has an even worse sound. I have played it alongside another ukulele player who didn't have a pickup so we just mic'ed her ukulele. Hers, without being plugged right into the system, sounded much better and fuller than my epi did plugged in. I was almost embarrassed at how poorly my instrument sounded.
I would honestly say I'm quite let down with this product. I do not feel like the value is there at all and as I said before, i'm currently in the process of selling it to afford a REAL ukulele.

.this was my first electro-acoustic uke and I would honestly say it was a poorly chosen one on my part. Never, ever buy an instrument before you try it out. This is just too quiet for my needs when unplugged, and even when it's plugged in it offers very little control over the sound. The only positive part is when I dropped it bottom first on concrete, the body remained intact and the sound was unaffected.

.This is an amazing ukulele for its price. It feels extremely sturdy and has a very nice sound. While it would be nice if it was louder when not plugged-in, the pickup does a good job when it is plugged-in. If you are looking for a great beginner ukulele, this should definitely be on your list.

. Without getting redundant, I've included all my comments above. At this price point, you should expect to have to do a little upgrading to get it playing as well as it's going to. That's certainly my goal. Looks good, feels good, pickup works well. All in all, much better than I expected, and among ukes this inexpensve, that's saying something. I think it would be unreasonable to expect the upgrades (bone nut/saddle, Aquila strings, set up, clean up small clearcoat run) and still get it anywhere near this price.
All of my ratings are based on value received for the price I paid. This is a sweet little uke. The pickup works fine and I like a concert size. A little heavier than I thought it would be, but somehow this comes off as "quality." The bolt in neck is cool and adds to a look of authenticity.....its not glued in! Wouldn't have minded an active pickup with some nice LP style knobs on the body, bu then hey..........how much more would that have cost? (although I'd have probably paid it). Maybe an even more authentic, solid body LP uke in the future?
Again, for the money, it's fantastic. The vintage burst finish is gorgeous with no obvious flaws with the exception of a small clearcoat run on the bottom inside edge of the sound hole. The finish is much deeper and richer looking than the pictures. The nut slots are very deep and not neatly finished. Nut and saddle are plastic and will need replaced, but I knew that I'd do that before I bought it. The intonation is pretty decent and the action nice and low. Of course the strings are junk, but then again, remember the price. The passive pickup works as well.
As stated, all my ratings are based on value. I got mine on sale, so in my opinion, the value is "amazing." Perfect uke? No, but for the money, it's a 10. A good setup, Aquila low g strings, bone nut and saddle.........this puppy is gonna sing!

.This Ukulele was designed to be used exclusively on stage, amplified. It performs amazingly, and coupled with a DigiTech stomp box, you can sound like Hawaiian Don Ho or Jeff Beck! Fit and finish is as good as my real Les Paul. Gig bag looks professional, quality black strings stay in tune. (Buy a Snark)! Its only shortcoming is the lack of a volume control. But, hey at this price?!
