Product Features

EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e presents the new Ltd. Ed. EJ-160E Acoustic-Electric, one of rock n’ roll’s most revered guitar designs now featuring a Solid Spruce top with an EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Stacked P-100™ pickup.

The original “J-160E” was one of the first acoustic-electric guitars on the market when it was released in 1954. Over the decades, the “J-160E” has been embraced by a wide range of artists both classic and contemporary like Lightin’ Hopkins, Elvis Costello, Paul Weller, and of course John Lennon. In fact, the “J-160” acoustic/electric was the only guitar to appear on every Beatles album from Please Please Me through Abbey Road. Now with the new Ltd. Ed. EJ-160E Acoustic-Electric, the “House of Stathopoulo” brings this vintage and hard-to-find classic into the 21st century with a Solid Spruce top for a limited time and only through select EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Dealers.

Solid Spruce: The King of Tonewoods
Just like the original, the new EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Ltd. Ed. EJ-160E follows the contours of the industry standard “Southern Jumbo” acoustic and features a Solid Spruce top with a Select Mahogany body. Solid Spruce is the “top” of choice for premier acoustic guitars. The more you play your EJ-160E, the more open and expressive the tone—so play your EJ-160E a lot! The body top has 5-ply Ivory/Black binding while the Select Mahogany back has single ply Ivory binding. The pickguard is imitation tortoise with the 60s era “E” metal logo. The EJ-160E’s bridge is made from Rosewood and has the reverse belly design familiar to “J-160E” collectors and features a compensated bone saddle.

The Select Mahogany neck has a comfortable “1960s” SlimTaperTM D-profile and is glued to the body using a Dovetail joint. The neck has a 24.75” scale with a Rosewood fingerboard with vintage style pearloid “Trapezoid” inlays just like the original models. The fingerboard has single ply Ivory color binding and features a 12” fingerboard radius, 20 medium frets, and a bone nut along with the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e classic Sloped Dovewing headstock.

Revolutionary Electric Sound What made the original J-160E so renown was its unique pickup system and to bring that sound back to life for the 21st century, the new EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Ltd. Ed. EJ-160E features an EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Stacked P-100™ humbucking pickup at the end of fingerboard. The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Stacked P-100™ pickup is seated discreetly between the end of the guitar's fretboard and the sound hole. Master Volume and Tone controls feature Top Hat knobs with metal inserts and pointers--just like vintage models--and are located on the guitar's lower bout. And each volume and tone control use full-size 500K potentiometers.

EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Heavy Duty Hardware
All hardware like the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e "Deluxe" machine heads with a pro 18:1 tuning ratio, the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Heavy Duty ¼” output jack, and pre-installed strapbuttons are made from solid nickel and the Ltd. Ed. EJ-160E is set up and tuned at the factory using EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e 12-53 nickel strings. Case sold separately.

Wanted a dependable acoustic/electric for small venue gigs in outdoor environments - this fits the bill. Electric guitar pickup works well through a DI box into PA or through an amp. Lots of low end - if you like lots of high end you might not care for the sound. Guitar is flawless - well made with a very rich finish; set up out of the box was very good - my guitar tech was impressed. The raised E on the pickguard will pop right off, which I think is an improvement - it was the only cheapo thing about the instrument. Plays nice, looks good, good value. They are making some pretty nice guitars off shore these days.

.This guitar is beutiful. I've always wanted a guitar with the volume and tone knobs on the bottom of the guitar like this with a pickup on the neck. I finally got it with this guitar. The vintage sunburst has a buetiful look to it. There is one problem though. The "E" on the pickguard seems to be coming off, but when I press it back down it stay's pretty good, but sometimes it comes up. Other than that The pickup look's great setting in the neck, and the volume and tone knobs make it look slick setting on the bottom of the guitar not to say the vintage sunburst makes the guitar pop. All in all I am happy with this guitar, I will use this as my main guitar now. The great thing about acoustic/electrics is you can play them without an electric amp, or you can hook up a cord and plug in to the amp and jam out really loud. All in all I love this guitar and finally got the acoustic/electric I've been dreaming about

I bought this guitar as a gift to a senior citizen center. It was an open box sale. What it really was was a damaged guitar. They graciously accepted it but I was embarrass.

.Enjoyed this guitar right out of box. Need to have a set up done but can be used right out of the box. I brought it to work and other guitar players could not put it down. Good looking guitar, sounds great. No problems except that 'E' but that seems to be a common problem.

.I added this guitar to my Beatles collection and it fits right in. I know it is not the Gibson EJ-160, but for the price and sound, a GREAT guitar.
Epiphone Limited Edition EJ-160E Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural
.I like this guitar! It sounds great, looks great and plays really easy. I like the idea of not having to worry about a battery. I will sit down at times for 3 or 4 hours and I never have to think about the battery going dead, right in the middle of playing something really cool! It has a volume and a tone control. That's all I need. I can get the rest of the effects on my amp. I think that's the way it should be. Any other electric guitar will get the effects from the amp not the electronics of the guitar. I'm happy that EE-Epiphone-e came out with this guitar. It's affordable and I'm very happy with it!!
