Product Features

Everybody wants to keep their finish as pristine as possible, and the Universal Reusable Acoustic Pickguard is looking out for your guitar. It's clear, so your color shines right through, and it attaches to your guitar without any glue! You can even remove and re-apply it. Its universal shape fits any acoustic guitar.

Advisory for older guitars (pre-1995) with nitrocellulose lacquer or conversion varnish: These finishes may be damaged as a result of using this pickguard. Always remove pickguard from guitar when not in use. All glossy finished Guitars built in 1995 or later use a UV cured finish that is less susceptible to damage, though it is recommended to remove pickguard when not in use.

Universal shape No glue based adhesion

In the past, all guitars were made with a gloss surface. NOW, much, much more common is a satin (matte) varnish that feels and looks like unfinished wood.

THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT ADHERE TO SATIN OR UNFINISHED SURFACES, which are most common in new acoustic guitars. You can get some double-sided tape, but that's it. Unfortunately, there simply is no other type of temporary pick guard to use. So it's either this with two-sided tape, or have a permanent pick guard put on your guitar. Or suffer the scratches (which show up a lot on satin surfaces).

Go with having a pick guard professionally mounted on your new guitar.

It's also a bit pricey for what is essentially the same as a removable window decal.

.get a smart phone screen protector instead- works great!

.This thing is thick enough for protection, but not too glassy to be easily detected. Exactly the kind I wanted.
It's self-adhesive, so very easy to put on the guitar. Also, removable so I guess reusable(jk).

I would recommend not pealing the whole thing off the sheet, just the sound-hole shape part,
use that as a guide to make sure it's in the right position, stick it onto your guitar, graduately peal it off the sheet and stick it onto the guitar simultaneously. This way leaves the minimum amount of air bubble under the film (similar to for cellphone, ipod protector kind of trick)
You could also get a rubber roller (at art supply) to get rid of the bubbles; for a Chaylor I think it's worth the trouble.

.I have a 2007 Chaylor GS4, satin finish, that was designed without the black plastic pickguard.
I've had this on the guitar since I bought it new in 2008. It hasn't lost its "cling"; appears invisible,
protects the finish; Great price for all the protection it provides and makes the guitar top look clean.

.Can't complain about fast, free delivery. Despite my careful attempt to install, still have bubbles under the guard. But it stays on and protects the finish, so good enough, and what else can you do if you don't want messy glue on your gorgeous wood?

.I hate writing reviews but after reading a negative comment I had to throw in my two cents. First, if your guitar does not have a glossy finish stop reading, because this product will NOT work well on your guitar. If your guitar does not have a pick guard, this is the best alternative I have found. It's barely noticeable and has no problem sticking, I have it on a couple of my Gibson's. But... for the price, do not expect miracles. Buy a guitar with a pick guard. Also, it gets bubbly if you try and reuse it.

.This p/g is really great, economical and provides a good source of protection from dings, scratches and swirls at and around the soundhole, if that sort of thing bothers you. Adheres w/o having to apply any adhesive and seems to cling better to the top the longer you leave it on. Likewise, removal is a snap. Highly rated! I use one on my Chaylor GS model - Thanks Chaylor. World's greatest acoustic guitars IMHO!

.These are Chaylor's own guards and they disavow any warranty for damage it may cause to the finish of the guitar. When ordering I thought that meant between the plastic it is made from in contact with the finish. Well that may be an issue but these guards are so thin impact of medium to heavy pick can leave pressure creases in finish of guitar, not a scratch per say. On my K28e the "static" cling in not enough to keep,it in place for a session. On 516e custom it stays in place but scoop out wide ridge forming in the wood, finish not scratched or cracked yet. They are just too thin and flimsy to be called a real Guard. I won't buy them again I'll either go full regular rigid guard, or learn to love the character of the played area. Might work for finger picker that might rest finger nails in that area though.

.Can't get the bubbles out. Does not look like the picture. You can see all the bubbles. Could not get them out. I know they sell adhesive clear pick guards. Maybe those are see through

.Use pickguard on my Chaylor 562ce 12 fret. Works fine.
