Wow! This 1966 Jazzmaster is in jaw dropping-ly awesome condition. A true under the bed find, the unconfirmed story is the original owner passed away soon after purchasing the guitar, and it was stored "under the bed" for much of it's life. It's absolutely gorgeous and 100% original expect for 1 pot. The pickguard is especially nice on this one, and the burst looks like the day it left the factory! Weighs in at just under 8 pounds.
The 1966 Jazzmaster features a bound fingerboard, pearl dot inlays, a larger headstock, slightly wider frets, the white "amp" style knobs, and a 1-5/8" nut width. This one still has Klusons, not F tuners, which makes sense since the neck is dated January of 1966. Other standard features include the alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 2 "soapbar" Jazzmaster pickups with standard electronics, and the vibrato tailpiece and bridge.
This Jazz is in excellent condition for it's age. It has a small but deep scratch on the front as pictured, 1 small area of worming/surface swirling on one small area on the back, and some very light finish checking on the back of the headstock. The pickguard is shrinking ever so slightly near the bridge. The nut is a bit worn, but it was just set up and plays perfectly. That's it! It includes the original hardshell case and trem arm, and also a cool pack of old string and an old cable.
