I recently switched back to these which came stock on my Vic Bailey Jazz V after using DRs for a few years. After awhile the brightness of the stainless DRs just didn't appeal to me anymore and since I have a string through body I need taperwound strings. Went back to these when MF was clearing out the old stock before the new ones with the new packaging came in MAN! I could not believe what I had been missing! They are nice and clear with a strong midrange, without being too bright like stainless strings can sometimes be, and boy do they last. I've had my current set on for about of month of heavy playing (20-30 hours a week) and they are just starting to mellow out, not even dead yet! Great buy and value!

. Nice even response, not quite as bright or high output as Sadowsky or Ken Smith nickel round wounds but some players might prefer that. A little less stiff than the above mentioned strings but good tension(they are hex core ). I strung a 96' American Jazz Bass Deluxe V with these through body and they work well and sound full and even. Price point and availability a big plus.
Nickel coating a plus for nickel fret equipped basses(less fret wear, nice tone). Taperwound E and B strings fit Fender through body basses well.
Well made consistent strings.
Very good value when purchased through Custom Guitar's Friend, $10.00-$15.00 less than comparable brands.

.Like most bass players I've probably had every set of strings available on my American Jazz Deluxe 5 string basses and I have to say I keep coming back to these. Years ago Rotosounds were the big thing. Those were great at the time but as I started to get sets of those with strings that were already dead I decided that quality control must be a thing of the past at Rotosound. These strings are hard to beat. I like the DR Longhorns but to me they just are not worth the ten bucks extra they cost. These Fenders just seem to work with the Fender basses and they also seem to fit the best. They are made specifically for those basses and it shows. The sets are well balanced. The tone for me is perfect. Not too bright and not muddy although I'd love to see Fender to come out with a 1.28 or 1.25 "B" string. These seem to last as long as anything else if you wipe them down when you're through playing. I wasn't crazy about the new packaging but hey if it keeps the price down I'm all for it. I think these are a good bang for the buck and I play a good thiry hours a week between live shows and recording. You can pay a lot more for strings all saying they're all this and that but if you have a Fender these seem to be truest to that Fender sound without breaking the bank!

.I have a Victor Bailey 5 string I gig at least 3 ntimes a week plus 2 rehearsals. I put a lot of hours in on those strings. After my gigs I always have bass players saying, OMG what strings do you use. I let them know, the brand that came on them, Fender 8250m. You cant go wrong with fender!

.Fender wants the best possible sound on their instruments when they leave the factory & this is their choice. I respect that.

.I typically purchase these same strings because I like the sound and feel. I love their lively sound, and these held their tune quickly.

.Direct replacement to factory strings on L-2500 34" G&L bass. I restring frequently and they're nice and zingy when new, which I like; they retain their sharp edgy sound for a couple weeks, then mellow out to a dependable, consistent, and focused tone which many players like. Either way they're good strings.

I use these strings on both of my fender 5's. The only drawback is promotions. I never see a promotion or sale on these strings and would hope that they are considered for a price reduction or sale in the future.

.These are the strings Fender uses in the factory & this says something.

.Problem w/ B and E string being tapered. For the first 2 weeks, the E and B sounded like there was a chorus on it. These are nowhere near as good as the strings they were making in the early 2000's.
